  • Good stuff. Interesting that Stay Away Fay is so close to Fact to File, and so far from the rest. Think there's a bit of opinion that Fact to File could leave him behind, as SAF looks a proper stayer and the old course might not suit. There's also the opinion that Fact to File is the second coming of course, but if SAF can travel with him early doors then I hope they make a proper race of it. See what they're both about!

    • Agree that Montys has a bit to find on ratings but he's been quietly brought along and you feel there's lots of improvement to come. He's followed similar route to HDB's previous top Staying Novice Chasers that have run in this race and you get the impression that He's expected to run a very big race. He could give the front two a proper fright and looks a cracking EW bet IMO.

BHA ratings have been surprisingly good in the novices. SAF and FTF being so close will be due to SAF running in open company last time and being in a better position to post a good rating. They're miles clear so would be interesting to see what the forecast would pay for them.

Best of luck to those who have got him at 40/1+ but I think he's a next year horse. This looks a good renewal (better than the last 2 and more depth than Monkfish's year) and I don't think hes just there yet.

Likened to Minella Indo and Monalee which is a pretty good marker .

Yeah not bad for pair who also didn't win the BANC.

Very true. He does look a very, very good EW play doesn't he.

                • The Minella Indo BANC was similar to this one. Top 3 in betting finished in the first 3 with the fav Allaho 3rd. Many thought he should have gone Turners that year. Will lightning strike twice??

Clear 3rd best for me with scope to improve. I think he'll end up higher rated next year than SAF but SAF is battle hardened this year. FTF is different class though.

                    • Arkle Stat: Western Warhorse is the only horse this century to win the Arkle with any form of headgear

                      • If FTF turns out anything like the last Bumper horse of Willie's to run in the BANC the following season then he'll be some animal! He'll have to go some to reach the heights of Florida Pearl . Arguably Willies best Chaser ever.

                        • A thought. Is there any chance MEETINGOFTHEWATERS gets switched from the Ultima to the Maureen Mullins National Hunt Challenge Cup ridden by Patrick ? Are Willie and JP going to get all sentimental.

All three mentioned already represented in the race with the front two in the market
