  • I think Hunters Yarn is a goner guys! Just going by stable tours. Shame as I have him at decent odds compared to what he is now. But means sweet F all if doesn't make it on the boat!

    • Just a pointer re horses that win the Browns & Turners….

Whereas Arkle winners have a fab record in QM, same not true for longer novice races …..think only one winner of GC in past decade between them ….can anyone guess ?

Browns winners keep getting injured the season after

topofthegame, monkfish and lhomme presse all injured. Was percy injured or just strange training can't remember.

Might bite came second in the gold cup

Minella indo got unlucky in the rsa, potential moral winner, then won the gold cup

I'd say the two highest potential recent winners were topofthegame and monkfish, unfortunately they were both enormous and didn't stay sound.

Topofthegame was still a big uncoordinated gangly baby when he won, could've been a monster

Does beg question why ? Is it such hard race?

He won’t, but if I were JP, my best horse would not go Browns

Don't think it's the race just one of those things

Loads of gold cup winners have run in the BANC over the years

              It's the best trial really

Indo, al boum photo, don cossack, lord windermere, bobs worth, long run etc

I did say a while back though that the 7/1 with Hills was a must bet, I went in on this, then 365 stuck 8's up for him after the DRF which was lovely for multiples.

I think Facile wins the Turners if they send him there, and backed this opinion by making him my biggest winner in the race.
As much as I agree with you COD, in terms of he should run in the Turners, the only way I see Facile Vega going Turners is if Gaelic Warrior isn’t pleasing them in the run up to the festival.

I'm desperate for facile to go turners but I completely agree with this. I think Gaelic should go for the 2m4f grade 1 at fairyhouse, but if he's on form he's probably good enough to win the turners at Cheltenham anyway given the likely field

I’ve covered Facile Vega for both longer trips. Kev pointed out lads were 60/1 (with boost) for BANC and as much as it’s 99% unlikely, for half a point was worth it and he ain’t going off anywhere near that price. The Turners is as much as we all seem to think, that he would excel at that trip. I can’t remember WPM being so stubborn to stay at a trip with a horse. He was beat in the supreme at 2m and beat twice as a novice chaser at 2m. It’s all in front of him.

                    • Seems to be a bit of movement (with some substance) on BFX tonight. Facile Vega into 8.2 for Turners and out to 16.5 for the Arkle.

                      • Gaelic warrior Arkle, Facile Vega Turners.

Probably been covered by others but it’s getting close to a reality.

                        • Apple Away is ultimately Cheltenham-bound, with connections likely to come away from this weekend with more of an idea of which direction to go in at the meeting.

Scudamore added: “We have Giovinco as well, who won on Thursday, and Apple Away and one will probably go to the Ultima.

“Apple will probably have more options and could go for the amateur race (National Hunt Challenge Cup), but I would like to keep Derek (Fox) on her if possible. You have the Ultima and the Brown Advisory, so we will see.”

It is, but you've gotta remember R4H's comments about how the horses are split up to give Townend the two best rides. They've changed my whole perspective on Mullins bingo so it goes one of three ways for me:

                            1) Gaelic and Facile are the two best rides so they go the route they always have (no reason to move Gaelic for Facile based on what we've seen)
                            2) Gaelic and Il Etait Temps are the best rides, so Facile can move up to Turners as second string to Gaelic.
                            2) Gaelic isn't pleasing so Il Etait Temps and Facile are the best rides and the route there is obvious

I don't see a situation where they drop Gaelic down to 2m at Cheltenham now, and it would be a bad sign for us Facile backers if they no longer think he's the best ride given they moved Gaelic for him at DRF, so the only reasonable situation where I see Facile moving up is if Gaelic isn't pleasing, which seems to be a distinct possibility based on the stable tour ("wasn't himself afterwards") or they save him for Fairyhouse, which realistically only happens if he isn't pleasing.

Point number 1 I think will be the outcome Odin

I agree for what it's worth... I've placed a lot of bets I wouldn't have placed this year now I know the way things work and I think I'll be better for it next year now

(Also, it doesn't change me hoping I'm wrong so my life-changing four fold can come in )
