I’m not buying this at all. Willie clearly didn’t say Corbetts Cross. They’ve done their homework and seen he’s the only 1 with an entry so assumed it has to be him. I’m with Andy on this 1, he’s meant to say Turners. Sure Greenall has already said about Iroko and F2F potentially clashing

    • Like what Willie says about Jasmin De Vaux being 'the' Bumper Horse and that they'll have a few others to join him as well......

Yeah, think you are right. He also bangs on about the speed ratings he's produced and the lick they went at Leopardstown. All smells of Turners to me being the preferred race.

        • Willie very rarely mis-speaks. How many times have we got to the end of a season and said the clues were all there for us to see? I don’t buy him making a mistake at all.

Then you better get on Facile Vega at a boosted 60/1 with Ladbrokes

He does make mistakes, especially with the races changing names quite frequently.

The RacingTV one does explicitly say Corbetts Cross though, so in this case I think he meant what he said.

The (Corbetts Cross) hasn’t come from Willies mouth though, hence why it’s in brackets. That’s come from the guy doing the write up. Willie definitely hasn’t mentioned him imo

Potentially. Hard to tell without context as it's just a summary. Hopefully there will be video versions over the next week or so to clear it up.

                  • Is it possible that the misspeak isn’t about him favouring the BANC for FTF but that he’s referring to the Turner’s when talking about where other JP horses are going.

JP might be looking at this and thinking that the Turners is weak as hell and Iroko, if at the level of his chase debut, wins that race - the only one he is entered for - and FTF wins whatever he runs in, so he’ll run in the BANC given CC doesn’t look to have a great chance in either. Gives JP the best chance of winning.

This would work for Willie too, as he has fewer top tier options in the BANC with Grangeclare West injured, but he does have Gaelic Warrior for the Turner (something he clearly suggests is a possibility in his stable tour comments) but could also step up FV or IET, and will likely run Sharjah too.

I can still see it being FV Arkle, GW Turners, FTF BANC.

Tend to agree ….only Q is how much of the decision on his horses JP is rather than Willie

in this case, I think stars are aligning (less so for me sadly), but with Iroko coming back, that may all work

If Iroko didn’t make it, I do wonder if JP team would then want Turners

But we are all guessing of course

                      • Just to note RE Nick Rockett on the racing tv stable tour - "Nick Rocket is entered at the Cheltenham Festival, but we might keep him at home. I don't think he's qualified for the National Hunt Chase. That was his third run and I won't be running him again before Cheltenham, if we did go there."

My understanding is he is qualified...?

I believe he qualified on Sunday placing 2nd in the Ten Up at Navan

                          • On the version of the stable tour I read it said he hadn't had enough runs

                            • NH Chase qualification:
                              • All horses must have a minimum BHA rating of 120 to participate. This change brings the National Hunt Chase in line with the G1 novices’ chases staged at The Festival – the Racing Post Arkle Novices’ Chase, the RSA Insurance Novices’ Chase and the JLT Novices’ Chase
                              • Horses must have run in at least two chases and must have finished in the first four in a chase staged over an extended two miles and seven and a half furlongs or further
                              • Horses must have run at least once in a chase during the current season.
I'd say Nick Rockett has qualified.

He's had more chase starts then EG. Not sure why he would be thinking that....
