Paul was impressed with him last time. Possibly surprised him a bit. Said he was very good everywhere. Rode him like he was a good horse too. Agree if he wins well then he'll likely be BANC bound. Don't think he'd trouble F2F though.

Poor though by his standards compared to the other Novice Chases. The English seem to do much better in the race compared with others. I wonder why ??

And we all have Saxon Warrior to thank for the heads up early doors if Nick Rockett turns up at the BANC and brings home the bacon. He was sweet on him after he won that G2 hurdle in April at Fairyhouse by a country mile.

No wins in 6 years in the Turners - we'll ignore the 3 we won in a row beforehand and GDC's fall. Easy to suggest he has a poor record in that race without looking into it.

The English probably do better relatively in the BANC as the English programme has a good staying chase programme for the grade 1 horses and the good handicappers. So a lot of the trainers want to source staying horses.

THeir record in the Turners is good though - 3 of the last 5 won by the English.

Yes, the Turners was the race I was looking at re no win in 6. Skewed as you say by Galopin fall.
Agree re English programme. Probably far more experienced and tougher than Irish over the longer trip at this stage in their careers.

Hoping he romps in on Sunday.

Probably be using him in Doubles on Sunday, if the price allows, together with an antepost pick (or two).

Maybe Trebles, if I can find another for the weekend.

Hopefully he can be a good back up to
                Dinoblue (Mares Chase) 33/1,
as inspired picks from last April.

                    ….currently 11/10 in a few places.

                    • Good to see American mike finally get a go over 3 miles

Expecting a big run from cocooner even though paul has chosen nick rockett

Though the ground may be too soft for him to show his best

Is Kim Muir a ridiculous suggestion?

                          • I'd be a little worried myself regarding any horse being aimed at Cheltenham being run this weekend over 3 miles in Navan. It's been pretty wet all this week in the East of Ireland. It's a tough going track at the best of times, especially the dip at the end of the back straight once theres anything with soft or worse in the going. Facing 3 miles on that ground and being asked to turn around in 4 weeks time and try replicate a 3 mile or 3M6F effort, would take a fair horse to perform in both

See below ground update this morn - Heavy but should be dry between now and sunday
