I think trying to second guess targets for Emmett's horses is tricky.
It's why I said on here during the Summer, he's a muggy antepost horse and should be left alone.

Obviously I've backed him for 3 races already since saying that. And will likely lose more antepost bets on him than any other horse

That's some going given Gaelic Warrior's antics!

        • True. He's just won the Cleeve with a GN winner so everything is possible.

Didn't get too involved with him until after he ran the first day and Mullins comments suggested the shorter trips.
He was always a little too short for the stayers and the RSA for me.
He will probably end up in the turners though, so will push Corbetts Cross close

Given the trainer I'm surprised he's not using a 5f race at dundalk as a prep run

              • Ruby (and Rory) were interesting on the Paddy Power podcast tonight. They implied that all three of Mullins’ versatile Grade 1 novice chasers may end up in the Turners. It’s certainly worth a watch for nuances etc but in summary:

Ruby implied that Facile Vega may well step up in trip. It got a couple of sizeable mentions on the show; early on and when discussing the Turners. It was by no means confirmation, but Ruby’s opinion was that he’d like to see him stepped up in trip as he’s a firm believer in the Dam’s side of breeding amongst other things.

It was also very interesting that Fact To File was discussed like 3 miles wasn’t an option. Ruby was sweet on him and Rory put him forward as his bet in the race if he wasn’t allowed an e/w angle.

Whilst Ruby was hinting at an Irish Arkle entry for Gaelic Warrior earlier in the show, he laid out his case for him going to the Turners at the festival - the usual reasons; stays, new course etc.

                • Could well end up like that. He has Grangeclare West and Nick Rockett for the BANC and 2/3 for the NHC. Not sure if he's got one good enough to take on Marine Nationale in the Arkle but he still has at least 3 that could run in it.

Surely the only way that happens is if he's beaten in the Irish Arkle. That's probably beyond stating the obvious like but he can't fancy him for the former and then think they'll step him up in trip.

I do agree with you in principle, that it’d be hard to step him up when you’ve the beating of the good thing over 2m and a plethora of others form Closutton waiting to step in at 2 1/2. But Ruby's made the point previously that Leopardstown isn’t as tight as the new course at Cheltenham. He also says you’d want to jump out with GW over 2m and that might exaggerate his jumping at the new course. Also being 2m1 and the Turners 2m3 and a bit, means it’s not a massive step up.

                      • Running in the DRF is all about whether he can jump LH imo , so winning the Irish Arkle might not mean he goes to the English.

It might not, and it will depend on the manner of any hypothetical win in the Irish arkle.
But it'd be a stretch to step him up when you've just beaten the odds on Favourite for the UK arkle.
Don't really care about the extra furlong and tighter track or length of the straight etc, it's be massive odds on he goes arkle, all things being equal.

                          • Probably side step the bloody DRF anyway and go straight there......

                            • Using the scenario Marine beats GW at the weekend well enough to put the Arkle question to bed, it'd be a big surprise to see them run GW and Fact To File against each other in the Turners surely? Who would they go to the BANC with? Grangeclare West is clearly a good horse but can you rely upon him yet with any great confidence? Nick Rockett has always given 2nd string vibes, Minella Cocooner probably not quite good enough. Fact To File would be the clear class act imo.

                              • I truly have no idea whatsoever how Mullins will place his Novice Chasers. Not a scooby. Should have learnt the lesson and just backed them all TWAR.
