It wasn't so long ago many questioned the turners as a route for a Gold Cup horse! I know it hasn't had as many renewals and I'm personally glad the stat was broken with Gallopin winning, but its a funny old game!

Yea he looks every part of it they were saying it during his bumpers he looked GC spec.

Gaelic Warrior is surely a Ricci GC horse next year via the Turners. More of the reason I don’t think they’ll go the Arkle with him this season either.

Mullins could have a serious gold cup squad next season possibly with Galopin on for the treble

++ IEP will have some advantage next season novice chasing looking at what we’ve seen from this years nov.hurdlers - be all in

FTF is a good jumper but he doesnt have anywhere near the exuberance that GDC has. FTF travels, jumps and moves like a proper staying chaser IMO and even if Gaelic wasn't in the picture I think he'd end up in the BANC.

        • Fact to file would win either race.

GCW could run well at the flogas and finish second to F2F but Cheltenham will break him, he won’t be troubling the judge in either race.

Gaelic warrior is a conundrum, he’d be better suited to the grade 1 at fairyhouse that GDC won after Cheltenham or go punchestown but Willie probably wont do that. I do think they have reservations about him and wouldn’t be at all surprised if they raced fact to file against him in the turners.

DRF will reveal plenty as per usual. Really need it to hurry up!

          • With you on all of that HE.

I just can't get excited at all about G West and haven't even considered having a bet on him. I think he's very overrated on what we've seen from him.

I too think that G Warrior should just bypass Cheltenham altogether and pick up all the best prizes going RH. Don't waste his incredible talent going the wrong way.

A bit melodramatic Lobos, he’s finished second at Cheltenham twice not pulled up! He’s not even run over fences there yet before you’re writing him off. Let him take his chance he’ll be too good for these unless the frenchie turns up.

My thinking was preseason gaelic warrior won't win he will need to be 8-10lbs clear to win going left handed

But what's he actually got to beat

Could've said the same in the Fred Winter and he got beat... He's definitely one to take on at the likely prices on the day for me. Whether that's just laying him or actually finding what might beat him.

Unrelated but Minella Cocooner at 14/1 NRNB for the NH Chase I'll be adding before he runs today. Needs to qualify as a minimum but I'd have thought he either runs well and shortens or doesn't and is a NR at Cheltenham anyway. The kind of bet that seems to make sense in my head.

                    • Taken a complete flyer on Landrake @ 80's for the NHC before he runs today over 3m later today (needs to finish in the top 4 to qualify for the race). Hasn't jumped with fluency so far over 2m4f which looks to be happening too quick for him. Gordon has 6 entered in NHC and he's the rank outsider of the lot, so the case is speculative at best. He had quite a good hurdling campaign last year, running Good Land to 4L on debut after 225 days off, he then beat Corbetts Cross before putting together 3 RPR's of 140. The RP had this fella in as one of Gordons dark horses to follow at the start of the season and I remember being confused as to why. Then I looked at his runs over hurdles and his breeding. On paper he should be a much better chaser and be suited by staying trips. He's Gordon's only representative today in what looks a hot race, so he'll do well to qualify but it will be a slog. I am hoping he runs well but at 80's it's pretty much all hope not expectation. Gordon said 'we always thought Landrake would make a nice chaser and, while he hasn't scaled the heights we thought he would as of yet, it is still early days and I'd like to think he can be competitive here. The trip should suit'.

….Sandor is now a n/r so should make qualification today easier.

                          • Minella Cocooner looks a non Stayer to me and he's just not good enough imo to be winning at the festival. Interested to see how the Nick Rockett form holds up on a line through My Immortal. Gaelic Warrior form on show as well through HDB horse.

Could be taking on Fact to File and Grey Dawning, both of which are right up there at the head of the Timeform ratings and on a par with G Warrior.

Bred to stay and finished 2nd in the spud race which he was probably done for toe in. Not sure on his class but his form and ratings are as good as any that could go NHC.
