There's not many I'd be overly scared of in Ireland

Corbetts cross and Klassical dream not out and out stayers. CC may end up in turner's and KD is old.

Gaelic warrior better right handed and turner's bound

Fact to file is interesting but would need to come on loads for the run

American Mike looked good but will he back it up

Flooring Porter will ensure the race is a stamina test which should play into the hands of SAF and help Giovinco settle.
Only horse I've not covered who I think could be a danger is Grangeclare West but I want to see him next time out before making a decision.

He'd be similar to American Mike in he clearly has ability but has to back it up

      • ….Nicholls on SAF;

Nicholls said: “He digs deep and stays and gallops. He is a proper horse. I knew he would stay and gallop all the way to the line. It is a hard in front as he doesn’t do a whole heap in front.

“In those better races when you have loads of company and they go a true gallop it helps him. No one was going to takes us on so we were left in front and we had to do the donkey work and you are a sitting duck, but one thing he does is gallop all the way to the line and he stays on strong. He is a good horse.

“I’m definitely not going for the National Hunt Chase and if he runs anywhere it will be the Brown Advisory at the Festival.

“We might look at something like the Reynoldstown at Ascot, but there are no real plans. He will not go to Kempton (for the Kauto Star) that is for sure as he will have a little break now."

        • ….owner Chris Giles re SAF;

Giles said: “He had a lot of work to do. He did a lot of work by himself. It was a tough race for him, but it was a nice staying finish and that is what you want up the Sandown hill. I think the second is a good animal and that is a nice race to win. We are very happy, especially as he was giving three pounds away.

“It was lovely to see him do it over those fences. Around the Railway Fences down the back straight twice meant there was a lot of jumping involved. He did not miss a fence. I think Harry thinks he would be better with a lead.

“He stays as he has got the stamina. I don’t think he is ever going to be a horse that wins by 10 or 15 lengths, but more so by two or three lengths. He will give us a lot of fun.

“We will miss the Kauto Star Chase for sure, but you wouldn’t be afraid to go straight to Cheltenham. I think he is proper horse and it was lovely to see him do that today. Listening to Paul he thinks he is a proper horse and he doesn’t want to over race him in his novice season as there is more to come. You have got to (think of the Gold Cup next season) when you go and see him do that.”

Not the Reynoldstown usually too close to the festival and run on bad ground. There must be something in January he can have a go at

            • They'll look back at the recent record of the Reynoldstown and ran a mile. A hideous race.

I can see SAF getting done in March, but he'll come back, dot up in a Hennessy and absolutely relish the Friday in March.

Very interested to see how they rate today - Giovinco could have a lovely, lovely mark to go to war with if they were minded to take that route. He's a serious animal - doing things all a bit too easy but not quite streetwise enough yet.

Not sure if this is in jest or not but that’s exactly what I thought post race. As soon as the markets open I’m going in on SAF for GC 25

The owner said the same after the race. KG next year has to be the first target though.

                  • I was actually more impressed with Giovinco than Stay Away Fay there. Giovinco did a lot more wrong (horrible error down the back straight as there was a little pace injection and pulled all the way around so was very likely to weaken up the hill), but still got within a couple of lengths. If Gio went to the Ultima, I'd probably have my biggest ever bet on him, but just as happy to make him a bigger winner in the RSA than Fay.

*Disclaimer - I'm reading every single race wrong at the moment so probably not an opinion that's worth much!*

I would be interested in a price for Banc this year and Gold Cup next year if priced up

….looked for this myself an hour or so ago. It’s the type of offer PP put up. I’m sure there’ll be an offer soon as they have Stage Star Ry/GC.

                          He's not a king george horse I don't think

Them not going to the kauto star and running today instead tells you they agree with that

Giovinco however looks well suited to that race

Though he'd have to beat Gaelic Warrior who would take some whacking round a right handed speed 3 miles if hes as good as he looked on debut

Might get a nice price when he gets beat in the turner's, hanging off the track like mighty potter

                          • Indiana Dream for the BANC @ 50/1 who makes his chase debut tomorrow at Navan in a hot enough looking contest, could be interesting.

Thought his hurdle debut in January of this year over 2m4f at Fairyhouse was very good. The form of which has worked out pretty well, with the 2nd, An Mhi winning 4 times this season and now rated 131. He was beat 15 lengths by Indiana Dream. The horse in 3rd won his next two races and is now rated 125. The horse in 4th is still a maiden but went close next time out in a grade 3, only some 3 and a bit lengths behind Buddy One (now rated 150) that day. Overall the form is solid enough for a maiden hurdle.

Indiana Dream is by Cokoriko, a sire who has produced Coko Beach (161 rated staying chaser), Iroko (Martin Pipe winner & very good on his chase debut but for picking up an injury), Icare Allen, who looks primed for a big performance in the Pertemps over 3m, and others that ultimately have looked like staying types. He is out of a dam (Tamise) that produced a decent staying chaser over in France, Ebonite, who won Grade 2 and 3 races.

With JP losing Iroko through injury and Fact To File seemingly disappointing against America Mike, I wonder if this lad could be his BANC horse. He's a big enough price to find out.

He is priced according but the Banc looks very deep at this stage
shaping up to be one of the races of the festival
He would need to be very impressive to be considered
lacks the experience of the ones prominent in the betting
Also think Corbetts cross comes into the reckoning for the owners
All imo, good luck if you take the chance

I wouldn't give up on fact to file either

He ran a very nice race considering it was his first go over obstacles under rules

And the yard were very sweet on him for the season

He was one of Willie's 2 horses to follow

I suspect he will win very easily next time
