  • Obviously subjective but Facile Vega given an opening RPR or 155 for his chase debut victory.

Just for some reference El Fabiolo (163), Dysart Dynamo (158) & Appreciate It (154) were last seasons opening figures for the main protagonists for Willie.

Back in 2017 Footpad got an RPR of 155 for victory in the same race that Facile Vega run in.

Pretty sure el fabiolo was originally high 150s last season before getting upgraded, like you metion wouldn't mind betting as the season goes on if facile vega and inthepocket do well that rpr for Saturday could be subject to a change, even as it stands tho is decent for first run, whos your main fancy for the arkle at this point ComplyOrDie facile or Marine?

        Honestly, I think it's a difficult call.

Personally, I'm hoping Mister Policeman is better than the pair of them, but it's a big ask. I do find it odd that Marine Nationales starting point got pushed back by Barry Connell, but maybe I'm just reading too much into it.

On all known hurdles form, Marine Nationale is the one to beat, but jumping slickly over hurdles is not the same as being economical over a fence.

        How about yourself Nwfb89?

American Mike got 140. 5lb inferior to Saint Felicien. Less even than Croke Park!

The way he's wrapped that horse up in cotton wool, I wouldn't be surprised if they swerve the Arkle with the view to keeping him fresh for the 2025 Champion Chase.

There were some RPRs miles wide of the mark last season so I'm not even bothering looking at them

They are after all just another man's opinion and I want my bets based on my opinion

Betting on an RPR that might ve been done by Graham rodway isn't an appealing prospect

Looks like they've rated Inthepocket as running to the form of his Aintree Grade 1 Novice Hurdle win, which seems questionable to me given his educational ride. I'd probably have it 5-7lbs lower.

American Mike getting 140 I've got a lot more sympathy for. No hurdles form for Fact to File and the horses that were beaten 20 lengths have been given a stone less than their best because AM gets a figure where he has essentially run to his hurdle form. I can see an argument that his should be better though as he looks to have improved for chasing.

And for what it's worth - which isn't a lot at the moment given my betting form - I'm very comfortable with horses getting a "low" RPR on chasing debut when they are given such an obvious schooling ride or have room for improvement like Facile's jumping.

I'd fancy Marine the most just hope he can jump aswell as Barry says he can , I'm building a book in the race tho and along with Marine I got facile onside and covered Mister policeman a while back when he was still a big price when he became the talking horse, quite pleased to see him get entered in a beginners chase hopefully see him on the track soon

I think (and probably many others do too) that, bar any extreme circumstances, the winner will come from one of them three.

I don't think I'll back anything else for the race, maybe Blood Destiny but that's a big maybe, as he was so disappointing in the Triumph last season.

                        • Ye I'd be thinking along them lines ComplyOrDie that the winner comes from the 3 at the head of the market, personally don't like blood destiny never been a fan of juveniles going chasing as 4yo, one dark horse I'd maybe consider adding pre chase debut would be authorised speed, Gary moore a trainer you wouldn't necessarily be associated with having lots of festival winners would he, but I always think of him training alot of free going 2m chasers, hunters yarn for mullins is another on the radar although I'm not the greatest fan of flame and glory progeny over fences (stage star probably his only decent chaser imo) so probably leave him for now.
