  • Good day that with Found a Fifty and Stay Away Fay going in. Couldn't have asked for more to be fair.

NHC was a joke. Some very serious characters on here I see!

He'd need to beaten at least one beforehand and Nicholls have something else for the BANC with a better chance for that to happen.

Talk of nh chase is very premature, there's every chance he just idled in front as he's still a very inexperienced horse. It'll be interesting to see the sectionals for that race to see if the other two slowed down or if stay away fay picked up and ran pretty quick after the last, in which case I'd say idling was the issue.

If he wins his next two races that nicholls said he'll go for, which may be uncompetitive races, then I'd say the nh chase is highly unlikely. Going to a lesser race with the Bartlett winner who's unbeaten over fences and leaving Cobden without a ride in the BANC? I think nh chase backers need him to lose one of his next two.
This is the most important thing to consider, theres absolutely NO chance they go NHC and leave cobden in the locker room, unless he looks like he very much isnt grade 1 quality, but from today, he very much is. Nicholls' novice chasers are thin on the ground to start with, without taking away a grade 1 festival winning hurdler from the stable jock.

Yeah this crossed my mind too, Hollow games beat Mustard very similarly at Navan no?

          • Wouldn't rule out the arkle for found a fifty so if any turners backers really like him then I'd be taking the big arkle prices still available with cash out.

Jumped well and showed plenty of boot at the end, if American Mike comes back to form he'd seem like a turners type too for the same owners, which could lead to them being split and FAF would be better suited to arkle of the two most likely.

It's a big IF but if you do really like him it's probably worth covering while he's still a big price.

Well if he rattles up a sequence of wins at 3m I would agree.

He got smashed by the main protagonists for the Arkle during his novice hurdle season, and I can't see him reversing that form, even with excuses for them performances and improvement for a fence.

If anything, he looked to do his best work late on today, so I'd be going out rather than coming back in trip with him.

I suspect the Drinmore is next up for him.

Yep, both found out in grade 1 company previous season, beat Mustard over fences 8-9 lengths. He can by all means improve for a fence mind you and he's still young but I think I'll wait until Found a Fifty runs in grade 1 company first and then come to some form of conclusion regarding his chances.

All fair enough, but what price is he should he win, say, the Drinmore?

                      • Nicholls said: "You couldn't want anything more first time out than that, to see him stay on strong. There's lots of improvement to come. It's a super first start of the season. We'll go to the Tingle Creek meeting then Kempton.

"He's not done loads and I think there's loads to come from him. Chris [Giles, part-owner with Dave Staddon] has given him plenty of time and he's coming good."

When asked if the National Hunt Chase, for which Stay Away was cut to 8-1 (from14) by Betfair, could be a target after a strong-staying performance, Nicholls responded: "He'll run in the three-miler it's as simple as that. He's too classy for that [National Hunt Chase]."

Shut down them NHC shouts quick and sharp eyyyy

                        • Feel a bit 'meh' about Found A Fifty. Won a bumper with a few fences chucked in at a meet that may as well be an Elliott stable tour with the others turning up as extras. Feels like one everyone will have forgotten about in a month or so.

Fucking love that! Proper safe bet target wise. Can't say that about many novice chase bets I've had.

Nice to see his balls are still filling up every day, the new wife deserves an awful amount of credit.
I would credit her myself, given the chance. I'm a sucker for a posh speaking jodhpur type.

I feel like if this was two or three years ago he would have said he wouldn't rule it out because he does stay very well.

But he's really regained his cajones lately, which is easier when you have the horses of course.
