  • Any chance of a Turners aim? He’s not short of pace and the BANC is looking like it might be a mighty strong race this year.

    • I’d imagine he’ll be gradually stepped up in trip. Willie Mullins does similar with his, usually running over 3miles for the first time in the banc

      • Or could be a couple runs over inadequate trips, a step up to 3m and then aim for the irish national

        • Nice that from flooring porter, little novicey but has the makings of a banc winner

          • He’s a very brave boy with his jumping is flooring, thought some of his leaps were exceptional, a couple a little long but I’m sure he will learn from that….. would say he’s a definite player for the Banc

Attacks his fences like he does his hurdles, and looked to enjoy it which was my main worry with him fencing.

One thing is for certain he will make the BANC a stamina test

Any uncertain stayers won't have a hope

Flooring porter. Impressive chase debut, didnt touch a twig first 6 fences, brushed through the 7th, injected pace in to the race as he pleased, lovely measured jumps 8th,9th and 10th. I acknowledge he was totally in control of the tempo, but these were impressive jumps .How he’d take to jumping fences was something I was concerned about prior to this chase debut.

K.Donoghue allowed the tempo to slow over the next few fences, which didn’t seem to suit flooring, but the quality of opposition probably allowed this public schooling.

The mistake at the 4th last, a mistimed, lengthy jump was a sign of how much the horse had left and was under a strong, restrained and educational ride.

2nd last he was being held together and jumped in to by an all out rival, last fence awesome. Came away on the bridle.

                  • Flooring Porter or Gaelic Warrior in the BANC ? Advantage FP I think. Don't understand why he is 16/1 and GW is 6/1 before jumping a fence. Am I missing something ?

Probably because it's still October and FP was only the first of a number of staying novices to come out.

                      • I fully understand and agree with your point. I think 16/1 is about right for FP. It is the Gaelic Warrior price I am bemused by. Never won at Cheltenham, never jumped a fence in anger and jumps right over hurdles. How is he 10pts better than FP. I know the BANC is always a serious conundrum/puzzle and that is why I love the race and the Antepost views. For me at this stage Stay Away Fay and Corbetts Cross are the picks. But I thought FP was impressive today.

                        • Visually won snuggly did FP, a bit bold at a few and post race spoke to a couple pals and all sort of said it's a decent enough debut hasn't done anything wrong but will potentially look to take on in graded company especially if put in short etc. Having run the figs vs the 2m chase and the other 3m+ chase it actually reads pretty well, comfortably beat the 3m hcap both circuits and late splits, obvs can't touch the 2nd/3rd and given their marks I'd be expecting them to be franking the form in a start or two. The Runner up with an uncontested lead potentially and the 3rd needs a proper test as lacks gears as was documented last season(especially on a sound surface).

                          • Does twiston Davies have any history of having national hunt chase runners? We'veallbeencaught would look an ideal sort for that race at a price.

He sends runners but it's hardly inspiring, plus to feature he'd be having to improve a stone minimum, not to say he can't but if he's campaigned cutely an Ultima/Kim Muir bid surely more feasible(thou can obvs see the the idea with the trip etc).

He wouldn't be an obvious one but I'd be keeping an eye on him at likely huge odds. His jumping was pretty good today, and an extra mile would be right up his street, even more so if it came up soft again on the first day. Ultima/kim Muir probably more winnable but marathon trips look like they could be the key to improvement for him.
