  • Those in behind of GW today might get branded as non buzzers and not wanting to get to close etc but I've just ran circuit splits and he was so far ahead of the 3m chasers I was hoping the 21f hcap(given they are usually ran at an ok clip) would make it look less glamorous. He has blitzed both by over 30L jumping the last first time until 2 out where PT begun to ask even less questions. He's a quirky bugger but he has so much natural pace that was impressive today upon analysis as visually it did look like what many beginners chases become etc.

Like a lot of Elliot's bought with a chasing career in mind, as the racing cliche goes, whatever they do over hurdles is a bonus.

Just in from another great day's racing in Punchestown. Back there again tomorrow. It took me most of the week to get over the two days last weekend in Navan and back to Fairyhouse next weekend as well.

Yes, the race fell apart but Favori just galloped and galloped. No surprise Gordon is talking about NHC and grand nationals to come.

After Willie saw how the Turners route worked so well for Galopin and Ricci saw how Monkfish was never the same after the RSA I’d have the Turners as a damn near certainty. Just my opinion of course

Yeh if you were on GW for the BANC today was terrible. There's no way they're thinking let's go up another 7f after that. I suspect he'll go 2m5f next time up and if he wins then like he did today that will be turners for him.

            • Lovely. Gaelic for the BANC. He’s a very good novice chaser. He could beat up a few more trees over 2m and 2and 1/2 mile.
              if he’s got a chance at festival it’s over 3m. 4/1 PP a gift.

              • 4/1 is an awful price. I've have him about 3/1 to even run in the race.

                • Willie said on RTE today that consideration should be given to GW and a shorter distance which would bring the Turners into question.

Well more 5f than 7 but I know what your implying. He’s going to get a proper figure for that(they’ve never been shy with him the RP) I also anticipate the prominent clock guys to be equally impressed etc.

                    • We will see. Before the race I would have him at 80/20 BANC/Turners. Now I'd have 50/50. Connections have generally said they see him as a 3 miler until now. Mullins will sometimes say things in the heat of victory; he will now go and think about it more. I didn't see anything in his run today which wouldn't also suggest he'd be great in the BANC. What would he needed to have done differently really?

Do I wish I had him covered in the Turners? Absolutely. Am I tearing up my BANC slips mentally? No.

Nothing, it's more that he showed so much pace like GDM did that it makes him flexible and we all know Mullins loves to chuck anything to suit whatever a season throws up.

You'd want him settling a lot better than he was today if you were hoping he'd be going BANC after today

When asked where they seen him after todays performance

                          2m/2m4

3m staying chases not even in the equation

For him to go 3m now, backers will be hoping he is beat at 2 and half staying on well.

He's low, quick and accurate at his fences today, just what you need for the mid trip. Reminds me abit of UDS, bit of a tearaway and handful but a classy animal

                            • I’m guessing Paul thinking at moment on Mullins ones….

                              - Facile Ark)
                              - Gaelic (Tu)
                              - Klassical (Br)

But Mullins bingo on chasers could be crazy this season

                              • According to racecourse commentator Jerry Hannon "it's nothing but a Saturday stroll" for Gaelic Warrior in the beginners' chase at Punchestown and that was a more than apt description of proceedings.

I think this reads little better from Willie, “We all know he stays”…as I said earlier he was very fresh & fizzy today himself & Figaroc were circling the pre parade ring for 15mins prior to the the rest of the field, he tried to take a mouthful of the hedge at one stage & was a proper handful for his stable lass. I’m confident he’ll be more controlled at Limerick next time out. Willie was flabbergasted by him today hence his initial mentions of all the distances. He was outpaced in the Ballymore & 3m on the old course at Cheltenham will suit him down to the ground .
