My take on that was to have some more on Inthepocket .

For everyone crabbing the Arkle, of all Willie's novice chasers last year it was only at the DRF in February where we saw El Fabiolo come alive. As with all of these (broken record time) you really need to see them race twice at the very least, and at proper racing speed.
First run on the track since April, and first run over fences.
Would definitely give him another run or two and then see how he performs, particularly with re to his jumping, and different ground.

Could say that about the loads and loads of novices that let us down as antepost punters every year. Easy after the event to crab.
He was being aimed at the Arkle, with the best connections possible (or second if you give Nicky the nod), bought when he wasn’t a novice and ran last season comfortably beating race fit rivals when he hadn’t run for a year and given all of the above was the value at that time.

MP was destined to be one so I think most are on before the collapse and so you always hope that if you identify one before the collapse that it might just be the one that pays off.
All part of book building imo

As a heavy backer of Mister Policeman I was pretty underwhelmed at the time. But he got the job done and worth remembering it was only his 4 lifetime run and his debut over fences. I wasn't taken with his jumping style, and he is a fairly small horse which would not be ideal either, but it did turn into a sprint and I don't think that played to his strengths, personally, not based on how he finished his race off against Cash Back over hurdles.
I had too many bets on him, across lots of different multiples, and I still have a fair few live but I have cashed some out now too based on that. All my singles on him remain, and I'm hoping a more strongly run race next time out will see him in a different light.

It wasnt the hype because i understand its always worth backing a horse based on hype but usually for bumpers or over hurdles
the fact that we got a chance to see him over hurdles beating summer handicappers didnt ever sit right with me when i was thinking of an arkle winner his form over hurdles was decent but not nothing to get excited about thats all, not mugging anyone off everyones entitled to their opinions!

For book builders he was a must bet at 20s or whatever he was, for non book builders there were obvious risks which a few folks did highlight. Some will now cash. Some will hang in and wait and very few non book builders will invest now I would imagine. That’s where we are now imo until he runs again. There may be some tasty opportunities to get him inside in the future for those that think it’s still possible.

I think people are far too quickly to write off horses on here after one chase run.
We saw it after Fact or File and again today. As with most beginner chases in Ireland, they never go very fast early on and the step up to graded novice chases will be a completely different proposition for them. See how they go at a proper race pace and then see if you want to adjust positions.

Agree Denman. Just watched it back again and he actually jumped fine apart from the second last which put him on the back foot a little. Loved the way he quickened up though on the run in and he did it quite cosily in the end. The 3rd home ran a very nice race first time over fences so the form of today's race looks ok.

Yes he was tenderly ridden but facile won on the snaff
