  • Found this on Il Est Francais prior to his French Champion Hurdle run....

“Hopefully he will be in England in autumn when we go novice chasing,” said George.

“He will probably run in a French chase first and then maybe come over at Christmas-time, for something at Kempton or something like that.

“Hopefully we will be at Cheltenham next year for a novice chase I think.”

Nick George said on Nick Luck's podcast that they are favouring the Turners also.

Perhaps Mr Mullins would very much like 2 to run in the Arkle???

He’ll have at least 2 very good ones in the Supreme, he’ll have more than 2 for the mares hurdle, he’ll have the top 2 in the betting for the mare’s Chase more than likely, 2 horses likely to place in the Champ hurdle, and yet most keep wondering if Facile Vega is going to step up or not based on Mr Policeman’s efforts this coming season??

        • The Only way facile Vega steps up in trip is that if he gets battered comprehensively in the Irish Arkle, and I really can’t see that happening

Wouldnt give up on him. Fact to file Was fat as a pig and badly needed the run, and clearly Mark was told to gave him nice introduction over obstacles, just like most McManus novice chasers FTO this season.

Not sure he'd need to be battered. Probably just getting beat with no excuses would send him up in trip. All talk now though.

                • I think Willie would need to have another strong Arkle contender to push Facile up in trip, as well as him being beaten.

Hopefully later today it looks like he's got one

People are so quick to dismiss horses that don't win on debut. It's impossible to know how fit they are on a first run and whether they're running over a trip that will see them at their best. AM has always had a big reputation and based on his breeding was always going to make a better chaser than hurdler. They've both just left a 375k big name PTP purchase 20+ lengths back in third so I'd say wait till you see FTF again before deciding he's a half decent handicapper.

                    • I'm thinking the NHC could have a new favourite tomorrow after the Florida Pearl chase.

                        Sandor clegane?

I reckon he will go very close tomorrow

No idea. Bloody tough looking race. Best Novice chase thus far. Hugely competitive. Will take some winning and winner will definitely have to be smart.

I posted the stats on here regarding festival winners and how many were beaten on debut. The answer was very little (2 2nds and a F across all novice races past 10 years i think off the top of my head)

                            • Isn't the Florida Pearl more indicative of potential BANC runners? Sandor 3rd in the AB last year and Flooring Porter having it as his most likely target. Presume that Quilixios is trying out the distance to see whether Turners or BANC will be his target but can't see NHC being it. Granted Sandor was plugging on in the AB so going up in trip could be suitable, but Maxxum is the only one I have marked for NHC in the race tomorrow

Imo no chance a horse like sandor will end up in the NHC, theyll campaign him as a g1 horse, and if not up to winning a g1 they probably more likely to send him irish national than take in the nhc jocking sean okeefe off
