  • For any that still think Turners will be the preferred option..

2m until beaten, like I've said all summer

Answering my own question; according to Michael Looby on Twitter, Rachael gets to ride all Henry’s JP horses as a thank you for winning the National.

Hasn’t that been the general consensus on here . I’m not sure I’ve seen many people expect him to go unbeaten over 2 and run in the turners? If you are that person reveal yourself

There's been plenty of people suggesting the Turners would be the preferred route, or hoping that would be the case

          • And Willie was fairly confident he was a 2 miler in the stable tours.

Personally I hope he runs in the Arkle, as he could affect my Turners bets.
Think he could run in either race, and next race or two should decide which.
If he gets beat at 2 m it’s interesting then.

              • Facile has never looked anything other than a fast 2 miler with loads of gears to me

I think it's important to distinguish between being fast and having a high cruising speed. To me FV is all over the latter and not the former, hence why he got picked off in the Supreme and why that super fast pace at the DRF caught him out. He's a unit with a big long stride and a pronounced action. When I look at him I see far more relentless galloper than fast 2 miler, but there is a strong argument that this will stand him in really good stead for an Arkle but I suspect he has the raw ability to be effective over 2m and 2m4f, possibly even further in time. I cant wait to see him again.

                  • As an ITP fan then I was more than happy for the run, though less so for the FV/ITP Arkle/Turner split. Inthepocket was never put in the race, jumped more than capably for a debut and was running on just as well as Facile Vega at the finish. From what I recall the distance between the pair was similar throughout the race including at the finish. There was 3 lengths between them at Cheltenham, 3 3/4 lengths yesterday. That's just one mistake over fences between the pair who both look like they will improve for the run. Interesting to see whether they look to get a win into ITP in a beginners chase, or look to re-oppose probably in the Racing Post Novice Chase on Boxing Day. Facile Vega has more of a turn of foot than Inthepocket so a strongly run Arkle may well suit both horses, so I still see him going to the Arkle.

I wouldn't (haven't) taken him out of my Arkle thoughts yet either.

I do think Facile Vega is just classier (more ability) but it only takes 1 mistake at a fence for a 3L swing

Also if anything happened to FV, Inthepocket's 2nd yesterday might still look a good piece of form with regards to the Arkle

                      • ITP will definitely stick to 2m imo. Did absolutely nothing wrong yesterday under a very tender educated rude.

Ruby just said on ITV that he felt ITP was the more accomplished jumper of the two yesterday.

Didn't like the way ITP lunged left in the straight at all once they got to a competitive pace, think I'd be keeping a close eye on that next time

I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. I think he followed Saint Felicien. Was straight otherwise.

                            • Have a feeling that was a very good novice chase

American Mike a much better jumper of fences than he was hurdles

Fact to file a little fresh on reappearance but lost little in defeat

                              • Really surprised by American Mike, have previously written him off. Both jumped super, F2F impressive jumper I’d say that’s turners out of the question for him.
