Hello Fat Jockeys,

It's also worth noting that Willie mentioned 3m immediately after he won the 2m novice hurdle at Punchestown last year:

Mullins said: “I’ve always thought the world of him, he has huge ability and I’m looking forward to him going over fences next year.
“Paul thinks he doesn’t have much respect for hurdles and he could always do that type of thing even schooling at home. He thinks he’ll have far more respect for fences.
“I said to Paul to be very positive on him because he has a huge, long stride. He gallops and is able to quicken off that.
“His pedigree would suggest he can go out to three miles any day of the week and I know he has enough pace to go two miles so we will let the horse tell us as he learns the game in the autumn.”

Similarly, in the RP stable tour:

"He's been a disappointment and Paul [Townend] said he's just not back to his best yet. He's been frustrating so I'm working on a different training plan for him. With his pedigree he could run in the Arkle, Turners or Brown Advisory. We'll see after his last couple of bits of work where we stand."

So I'm not convinced it's getting ahead of ourselves. I still think (maybe hope) Turners is most likely (I know you think Arkle) and maybe you have an inside line that I don't but I can only make conclusions by piecing together quotes immediately after races so happy to stand down if you say you've got the nod from anyone

    • 16s NRNB for Facile Vega in the BANC is fair enough risk free like. Wouldn't be that big as a runner on the day, with Townend on board and in a likely small field.

I think he'll be a non runner though. And if Fact to File is the machine that people seem to claim I can't see why Mullins would send FV to take him on. Rather than go to a Turners where he has no clear fancied runner.

I was actually commenting in regards to Lobos getting ahead of himself again with Vega to BANC, Paul on Hunters done deal FWIW, no haven't had anything concrete on FV and his target yet.

But the way I have it in my head, who are Willies best Novice chasers IN HIS HEAD

        That would be

        Facile Vega
        Gaelic Warrior
        Fact to File

F2F BANC a done deal with JP it seems.

Gaelic no reason to go 2m with him now, Turners has been the plan (since his chasing debut)

Facile Vega IMO sticks to 2m

          Fair one

Have you (or anyone else) heard anything about Gaelic wellbeing? Sounds like he wasn't himself post-DRF so if he isn't by Cheltenham that will also impact upon the bingo?

PS - completely agree with those 3 as Willie's best chasers and the logic that follows from it if he does believe that

            • They might be the best 3 in wpm’s head but they have to back it up on the track and Facile Vega at 2m has not done that. Is anyone confident he wins the Arkle? As in what we’ve seen so far this season? And I’m not meaning ‘aww if WPM gets him tip top on the day’ confident, just in what we’ve seen.

I know it’s an open Arkle but he’s been beaten easily in both Grade 1’s. On current form all the runners with exception of Marine ahead of him in the betting I’d fancy more. Marine has an excuse to get over himself.

So at present I’d say the doors very much open for all his novice chasers to switcheroo to what ‘we currently think’ bar 2 or 3.

              • They’ve been talking about switching things up with facile vega at home but I’d love to see him ridden from the front in the arkle making it a serious good gallop, might just bring the spark back and might even help his jumping a bit as hes definitely slow through the air.

So chanced Golden Son today at 12s as a roll up. Lost his way since his second to Iroko but there's been a couple of excuse made and the price is nice enough to risk finding out
                  Lovely stuff.

Not sure it's really a boost to the form 2 runs down the line in a handicap, but I'd rather have the roll up bet still going than not. Well done mate

Cheers mate. Aye, bit of luck for sure and not done heaps for the forms. But I'll take having him in the book as a big winner from nowhere.

Yeah, old news but lots can change as we know. Ground could be a factor. At what point was Galopin confirmed for the Turners over his long term target of the BANC ?

He was saying he was eying the Turners after he won at the DRF for GDC
