Jack Kennedy is the best jockey at the moment for me....and he's a way clear.

However no jockey actually gives me confidence any more, in the way Ruby or Davy would have for the festival.

Not knocking them, but I just think it's a more level playing field now.


Patrick is fine, and he's only amatuer through choice, he could turn professional and he'd be right up there for winners if he properly wanted to go for it one year (obviously because of his Dad), but he's won more G1s than plenty of professionals I'm sure!

I know all eyes will be on Leopardstown this weekend but... The Scilly Isles is an interesting renewal today. Last time I mentioned Djelo he got wiped out at the first fence, but I've still not given up on him emerging as a Turners outsider. Venetia used this race for l'Homme Presses before winning at the festival also (in the BANC on that occasion). But he's third fav today and on the drift. Hermes Allen is clear fav who's also proved a fairly popular Turners outsider and will test how much of a weapon Il Est Francais really is. And then there's a couple of other G2 winners in there as well. So an interesting enough contest.

Been more of a BANC trial recently to be fair, but not sure I see that this year!

I'll be backing Djelo one last time anyway

I also like Djelo and have backed him nrnb for Arkle and Turners, think he’s a fair e/w shout if he turns up in either.

Still drifting for today... Could be a horse that drops a couple of lb and goes to the Grand Annual. Sky Pirate won the GA off a mark in the low 150s as a novice a couple of years back, so it wouldn't be unthinkable.

Not sure Venetia has a great record in the race though?

Totally agree on Jack - and think if injuries allow he could become one of greats

Loved Davy, but I’m not sure he rode Cheltenham that well to be in same sentence as Ruby ….prob should have won more there

I think Festival favours two types of jockeys in particular…,strong finishers (Barry the most obvious…,not that great, but just came alive on the hill) & strong tactically (great front rides like Danny….,and also why I think Rachael does so well there)

Le Patron another to keep an eye on ref Turners…it’s his only entry & seems to still be improving. Might be another ew shout

Tho think GW & Ginny’s both take some stopping, plus Iroko could still make it there

I personally think Townend is the best overall jockey in Ireland.
Always liked him, and very difficult to follow in Walsh's footsteps.
Kennedy is also good but has more to prove for now. IMO.
