Patrick is saying silly things, perhaps in his own interest to get his leg over as many as possible at festival. IMO he should stick to the bumper and let the grown ups ride the proper horses
Absolutely, the incident at Limerick stemmed from his shite show on Vega. His rep was on the line & he was under the cosh.
He’s not hanging right at all, he just shapes right at his obstacles, that doesn’t expand as much needless energy as you are insinuating, a bit of cover on the inside would negate that issue a lot, it will only be when he’s got broad daylight in front that’ll cost him vital lengths.
A patient rail hugging ride similar to Davy on The Storyteller in the Plate a few years ago would be the ticket.
Took keen hold, midfield, headway and prominent after 2 out, pushed along and went second 4 lengths down last, soon edged right, kept on final 110yds, no match for winner (jockey said gelding hung right-handed)
As I said, it may not be noticeable that he hangs as the jockey is constantly adjusting his legs, body, reigns to stop him doing it. Having to do that throughout the race is bound to make a negative difference. Hell always be at a disadvantage going LH in top company and there's nothing they can do about it. The Turners has fell apart a fair bit though with injuries and the French horse not coming across so potentially he could win by default. Willie will probably have to pull his other horses out of the race as well if he wants to give him a penalty kick.
What price does Three Card Brag go tomorrow if he wins well, conditions are massively in his favour & he’s been hammered in the betting tonight. If Cheltenham comes up soft & he dodges the Irish National (having UK based owners may help in this regard) he’s almost a good thing in my book with plenty of cut.
I think Minella Cocooner will come on tons for the run at Xmas too, fancy him to take in the Naas grade 3 at the end of Jan to get qualified. Reckon they’ll be Willie & Gordon’s main darts.
…noticed a few firms clipping Monty’s for NHC yesterday (although BV still offer 33-1). He wasn’t too far behind TCB last time so could offer some competition today. I assume today’s extended 2m 7f qualifies both for NHC if they’re in the first 4 home.

Monty's Star a bet for me today at the prices. The win today and festival bets aren't particularly appealing on him so just a today single and then reassess is my play.
He's namechecked the Turners for Fact to File who would have a serious chance so hardly throwing the race away. He may feel that Gaelic is capable of challenging Marine and he does love to split them and have serious chances in every race.

He may have said it on RTV but I heard him on RTE, when Grangeclare West won, he surmised that GW could go for the BANC and FtF could drop back to the Turners. His immediate post race comments.
Nothing more certain than that though.

Three Card Brag is very short today. To me, it's the perfect race to bowl round, qualify for the NHC and finish 2nd to Monty's Star to keep the maiden tag.
