Very true. Hadn't thought of that one. Ummmmmm

    • Both races have above average fences to jump 13 v 17
He’ll have issues with both especially if he doesn’t go left handed in his last prep race.
The turners on the more galloping slightly less tight course would suit better I reckon- but all depends on which race if any he runs in at Dublin IMO

      • Running him in the Arkle would give his beloved son Facile Vega a much better chance in the Turners. All making sense now.

        • If I was in Willie's position I'd be giving gaelic warrior a chance against Marine national at drf and if he wins/goes close then chance him in the arkle at chelt, if he is walloped by Marine national and continues to jump right alot I would skip chelt and save him for fairyhouse seen as its only just over 2 weeks after chelt this year where he'd be a shoe in

          • Not sure if I was on a ban or what but nice to be back fellas…

I see Gaelic Warrior is still the hot topic, my thoughts on him stepping down to 2m would be that he’d have to make all & would likely be on his own in front which would only exaggerate his tendency to jump right. A rail hugging ride with plenty of cover would give him his best chance of going one better in March.

He’s just mustard over a fence though isn’t he, even with the spoilt brat Pat in the saddle. I’m still clutching onto straws that he’s outpaced by Fact To File in the Flogas & gets stepped up despite having him covered for both. Can’t have the Arkle shouts, Patrick is just stirring the pot, he said the same before Christmas.

What price does Three Card Brag go tomorrow if he wins well, conditions are massively in his favour & he’s been hammered in the betting tonight. If Cheltenham comes up soft & he dodges the Irish National (having UK based owners may help in this regard) he’s almost a good thing in my book with plenty of cut.

I think Minella Cocooner will come on tons for the run at Xmas too, fancy him to take in the Naas grade 3 at the end of Jan to get qualified. Reckon they’ll be Willie & Gordon’s main darts.

              • IF Gaelic Warrior ends up running in the Arkle (I don’t think he will)

has a horse ever let down so many antepost slips?

                Boodles ‘certainty‘
Ballymore - in fairness went for the race name checked by Willie a year out
BANC antepost fav after booting up at Punchestown
Then attention shifts to the Stayers which connections mentioned
Stable tours then shift it back to chasing - Finally settles onto the clear Turners fav
only to run in the Arkle

I was thinking the same myself looking depressingly at my Stayers, BANC & Turners slips. But then I watch him run & he gets me on my feet every time!

                  • Had he ever won on LH track? Can't be bothered to look it up.

Gaelic? Won the handicap hurdle at the DRF.

Yep, his second in the Ballymore last year shouldn’t be used as a stick to beat him with either. It was a very good run & jumped straight in the main to my eye under a clever ride tucked away on the inside rail.

Cheers. He can do it then, albeit against handicap company.

It's not that he jumps noticebly right it's that his jockey is trying to stop him going that way all the way round .As a result , Both horse and jockey use up valuable energy which clearly doesn't help him at the business end.

He’s not hanging right at all, he just shapes right at his obstacles, that doesn’t expand as much needless energy as you are insinuating, a bit of cover on the inside would negate that issue a lot, it will only be when he’s got broad daylight in front that’ll cost him vital lengths.

A patient rail hugging ride similar to Davy on The Storyteller in the Plate a few years ago would be the ticket.

                              • Patrick is saying silly things, perhaps in his own interest to get his leg over as many as possible at festival. IMO he should stick to the bumper and let the grown ups ride the proper horses
