Hello Fat Jockeys,

Upgrading the Fat Jockey forum!: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fatjockeyforum

We're looking to upgrade the 'hosting CPU' so I've set up a crowdfunding project.

I would love it if you could donate using the link below to access my project page. Any contribution large or small will be hugely appreciated. Thank you.

I wonder if he'll consider Gaelic and/or Hercule.
I think both will at least be considered for the Irish arkle.
Blood Destiny for me. Love that confident front running from a 2 miler. But he is a 5yo …

Good to see him out and get round and we already know he has an engine. Like FF said though it could come down to what he actually has to beat. A sufficiently clear round may be enough come the race. Obviously first time up as well with an interrupted prep to get here so improvement to come as well you would expect.
Careful and not fluent? Each to their own and all that but thats a ridiculous take IMO. Wings his fences, jumps straight as a die, wastes no time in the air. It was a superb debut with accurate and neat jumping, shortened up when he had to (which is perhaps what you mean by careful).

          Haha yeh that was funny

The expectations some people have for chase debutants is just way too high. MN was jumping fences for the first time in public and if you polled racing fans I'd say 99% would say he passed with flying colours.

Ok, I've watched him a few times since and happy to admit that his jumping was a lot better than initial first impression. I can't say I was as blown away like I was with Gaellic Warrior or Il Est Francais which is where I would use some of the superlatives that you used. However, on a chase debut with the engine he has then getting from A to B then he will clearly take a lot of beating in the Arkle.

I referred to "my mate" just to suggest we both thought we saw the same thing in initial impression of the run. I have better things to do with my time then come on the internet and bullshit or invent things to back up my opinion. I gave my opinion on what I saw, and now I am prepared to correct it with the benefit of watching the replay a few times.

Anyone that took the chance on him taking to chasing are sitting on some very healthy vouchers anyway.

I understood what you meant with the confirmation comment.
It just made me laugh reading it. Not sure why.

              • …PP immediately cut F2F 8-1 BANC after that win, Fred go 5-1 whilst 365 10-1.

As often is the case, post-race comments will be of interest.

                • GW impressive there
But evens for the Turners... no thanks. Rather leave him be at those prices until I see him go left handed

                  • Fabulous performance from Garlic but we've been here before with him. If only Cheltenham were the other way round.

                    • ….P Mullins re GW;

Mullins said: “That was super and he settled away going his own gallop. I was trying to get him to pop early on, but he wasn’t too sure of that so I let him jump. He loves the ground, won as he liked and jumped well once he got into a rhythm.

“He has been beaten twice at Cheltenham and it doesn’t really suit him as he jumps good and right. That said the Turners Chase is on the New course (at Cheltenham) which is slightly less tight than the Old course.

“He is most definitely a different horse going right-handed, but Cheltenham is Cheltenham. I’m not sure what Willie has in mind for him and I think the way he jumps, maybe two and a half miles on soft ground is his best trip.”

                      • They'll give him a chance to show if he jumps better left handed over fences at DRF. Poor show there and no point putting him through it at the Fez for a 3rd time. They have FTF now for the Turners as well.

                        • Every head on view we had of Gaelic at a fence he jumped right. New course or not you can’t do that at Cheltenham. He’s the lay of the week at 5/4 in the turners.

                          • Struggling to back a horse that jumps right like that in a race, unless the Turners turns out to be average/weak.
Evens this far out isnt for me
He's a Yorkhill, hugely talented but has his quirks. Not sure I want to lay GW as he could be 5-10lbs better than the field, it could be a case of playing the w/o market or just leaving the race alone

                            • He was a stone better than the field in the Fred Winter but still failed to win. The only positive is that the prices of others in the Turners are very attractive.
