Not really too sure, although I always take note when these two firms cut as it's normally (but not always) indicative of something.

He really did. A debut RPR of 128 jumping to 145 is exactly what you want from a festival contender. My hope is that Firefox is fundamentally the better animal so the lawlors will be interesting.

          • Just on Its For Me, I am suspicious something is a miss. Ruby put him up as a bet on the PP podcast for the Future Champions Novice Hurdle over Christmas.

It’s For Me didn’t then run in the race.

Then Ruby was asked on RTC on 29th December whether It’s For Me might be the Supreme horse and he said, “he had no opinion on the horse” and quickly moved the conversation on to Ballyburn.

It just seems very odd to vacillate from putting him up for a Grade One to having no opinion.

Worth watching both videos for tone of voice etc.

NRNB would be a good option in my opinion given you’re only sacrificing a couple of points.

            • Ruby wasn't dismissive of It's For Me though Exar Essay he just casually said he had no opinion. Of course, that is still odd given he put him up for the Future Champions, but I wouldn't be drawing any conclusion based on that. He isn't exactly strong on the exchanges which would be more of a concern for me.

A lot of the time I feel like Ruby goes against what Willie says, and IMO he started on Ballyburn for the Supreme because it was the most recent winning form of a novice hurdler from Willies yard, having just seen Daddy Long Legs beat in the Future Champions.

Willie ultimately said Ballyburn 2m4f+ though.

In isolation, the no opinion comment means nothing, I agree. But expressing that just days after having a strong enough opinion to recommend a bet in a Grade One (which is rare enough from Ruby) is what made me think

                • Same suspicion from me re It's For me. No need to back until he gets an entry though so no problem. Will just top up on others in the meantime incase he is out.

                    I'm in agreement there.

Not one to interest me at all, without an entry/declaration (and/or some positive comments from the connections).

Being entered in the race at Christmas then not being heard of since, isnt an angle that pulls me in.

If Ruby batted off the question about him that's not a positive either.

Agree, thats why I took NRMB with hills. Wouldn't have taken it without that concession

                        • When Ruby mentioned It's For Me for the future champions, it was very much from a price point of view. He was 8-1 at the time.

I noticed the no comment thing and am equally suspicious, and will be until Moscow Flyer entries, BUT he has not been weak on the exchanges though as I was able to lay my stake off.

FWIW, I took a punt at big exchange prices as his run in the Champion bumper was encouraging (mentioned at the time) as he was badly placed and ran on well enough, the only horse that seemed to finish better was the winner. IMO.

And even though the form has worked out from his maiden I didn't like how keen he was, but the Moscow Flyer would suit him so hopefully he can prove himself.

Moscow Flyer entries close next Tuesday and early entries for the DRF Grade One close next Wednesday. It could be an informative 24 hours.

Yeah, and horses that didn't run or get entered at Xmas, generally get advised to punters at that stage that they are injured/out for a while.
People will likely think this is rubbish and I agree to a point.

But in the defence of training operations, xmas is a very busy time and they may be waiting on vets and tests etc and want to be certain before these entries.

Having watched the race back a few times I sort of agree. On the level he tended to be keen early in his races which took the sting out his finish (agree with bumper finish being impressive) but over hurdles I thought he was the complete opposite which I liked. He wasn't actually that keen early on but after jumping the 4th last he wandered around a bit and threw his head about, gets headed but comes back powerfully and finished better than the winning margin suggested iMO and we know that form looks very good now. I really like that as to me it indicates he was full of running and raring to go and actually get racing. Far better that way around than being super keen early and just holding on, or just doing enough in a finish. Be interested to see if you agree?
