  • [QUOTE=The Fellow;n444317]“He’ll have to have another run before Cheltenham and if he doesn’t run before then, he won’t run at Cheltenham.”

Agreed. I cannot believe that JP will avoid the Supreme, nor can I assume Nicky will either. He's the Supreme favourite, there is no standout (yet) and even if another appears now they too will have even less hurdling experience. I really wish journalists would challenge trainer's comments such as this, rather than giving them this respect.

    • maybe Nicky finished late last night and started early this morning , usually explains this type of nonsense statement

      • every time i see Jeriko i get the feeling they only have him in 3rd gear and he hits the line , that big straight at Cheltenham would let him stretch his legs in top gear , looking forward to that

Fair enough but we've not even seen any entries yet, have we, or have I missed these? Unless he comes out and wins impressively, I'd like to see my Supreme horses have at least 2 races over hurdles before they turn up in March.

Will run this month is the latest. That'll give them sufficient time to get another run in if required (possibly DRF?) before Fez. Very excited to see him again. Fingers crossed.

My thoughts too. After the last he looked absolutely full of bristling energy, when they let him go I reckon it could be some sight.

                  Bit like Shishkin's season?

I always try and remind myself Shishkin was a huge drifter on the day, went off 6/1 after being ante post fav and I'm sure he was 7/1 at some point that morning

JDR - could well do the same... the questioning of his actual form will come much closer to the time .... we have to remember these aren't day of race markets and a lot can change

The gamble now is more on what the price will be versus FOMO

                  • Kingston Pride is one to keep an eye on if declared at Sandown on Saturday.

Same owner as Willmount, who could have been the red herring for this guy, also it wouldn't be the first time a hyped up JP horse has made way for something else from the Henderson yard (Jonbon/Constitution Hill (who also started at Sandown).

Kingston Pride's p2p is working out OK, The Enabler who finished 2nd to him is 2 from 3 in his bumpers, including LTO recording a decent RPR of 128.

I've seen some think he'll be going for the Ballymore, but I wouldn't be convinced, plenty of speed and stamina in his pedigree.

Agree COD. There's been sustained pressure on BFX too. Nothing seismic, but his price has never run away like other unraced horse's have.

I'd not fancy him for Cheltenham given how late he's making his debut but certainly an interesting entry.

I did take a wild stab at 600+ BFX for the Ballymore but doubt he goes that way.

If all goes to plan and he shows ability there is still the possibility of him getting two runs in before the festival, which may be what Nicky plans on doing. I'd not see him as a Ballymore horse at all though, just not enough experience for what Nicky would normally send to that race (not that he does well in the race anyway).

I've been keeping an eye on the exchanges too, and agree, he's been steadily backed at big odds without being hammered like Jeriko was.

                          • Caldwell Potter hosing up the last 2 runs must be boosting It's For Me who beat him, can see why the blue is around. Caldwell is still 12's which seems decent to me

I do wonder if they'll hold Caldwell Potter back. He's a full bother to the ill-fated Mighty Potter, and he ran no race in the Supreme, so I wonder if they'll have that in the back of their minds.
