Yep I’m all over that one like a rash. Jack singled him out as the one he was excited about a few weeks back
in the RP. I’m sure it shouldn’t be read into too deeply but puts him on the list at the very least.

      • Interesting stats from Matt Tombs on Matchbook podcast (recommended) re Ballymore winners …..very profitable to back 2m group winners, not so 2.4m winners ….prob something we all knew re speed importance

So a thought ..,,I’m trying to think about Nov Hurdlers in 2 buckets

        Poss Supreme/Bally
        Poss Bally/Spuds

The first group should win both races & arguably key ones to focus on ….so actually might be worth covering good horses for both wherever possible ….which also helps with Mullins bingo …,but not so much worth backing the latter group except for Spuds

indeed, several recent Bally winners were horses many thought would go Supreme …Appreciate It, Sir Gerhard and Impaire et Passe as examples

Gordon talks about DML twice in the recent Irish Racing stable tour. The first time I'm convinced he mentions a variety of trips but I'm not 100% sure. Anyone care to give their view on what he says from 13.40 onwards?

I have the following: "... Anything from Two to Two and a half, Two Six" ??
It's the 'Two Six' part that I'm unsure of in particular...
Yea I don’t know why the let him man handle the microphone for the interview -

          for the local dialect
I’d hear that as the reporter asking is he just a 2 miler? (I.e boxing him in to one trip) Gordon saying ahh you could step him up trip anything from two to two & 1/2, to three6? He could go yano he’s a classy horse

I do think he says 3 at the end not 2. It sounds different to the how he says ‘2’ twice before.

          - I’d read it as he’s not limited to one trip and like the very classy horses you expect them to be able to do it at various trips. He made multiple references to his pace, quick, speedy horse.

DML does like a Ballymore or a Supreme horse and his target isn’t 100%. Gordon does look to send the better ones to the mid trip but I wonder is that possibly due to the types he buys for the future aren’t strictly limited 2 milers. I think DML target will be influenced by JPs other horses. Gordon thinks he can go either by sounds of it so if they were asked to go a certain way cause of likes of Jeriko, Mirazaur West and all JPs other Frenchies it doesn’t sound like it’d be a long thought for GE.

Maybe just to indicate he won't be going 3?

Emma confirmed on Twitter that she asked Gordon is he a 2-miler to which Gordon responded 'yes'. So some mixed comments there.

              • Encanto Bruno’s form given a little nudge today at Warwick and arguably with Mel Monroe the other day bearing in mind EB didn’t even come off the bridle.

I do like the horse and each of Gavin Cromwells need judged on their own merit but I just always feel he starts the season well and then they don’t quite kick on from there, if that makes sense?

It may be he’s just not had the ammo to take on the big guns yet come march but I’m sure he’ll have one eventually where we need to sit up and take note.

Just my own view as I limit how many I back in each race and what I end up with come March and he’s not one I’d look at, at this stage.

I agree.Although I think this fella could be ok. I suspect we will see him in the royal bond and if that goes well maybe the DRF but I don’t think we will see him on deep ground. The bumper ground would have been way too soft for him I think.

                        What festival race ?
I could see a soft ground Ballymore or even Supreme, but that would be a push for me, as his breeding suggests Albert Bartlett to me.
But visually, the last day I can see why some would think shorter may suit.

I don't, but the Royal Bond may or may not be a winnable race for a horse like this, so if he were to win that then I could see them going in the wrong direction IMO.

Pretty sure the previous trainer mentioned prior to his bumper win at Cheltenham in October last season that the bartlett was the likely target, but they opted to stay in Bumpers.

Is he not another my mate mozzie?

Winning races before the big guns unleash their good ones?

Personally I think the ballymore is his race despite his breeding suggesting further, although Selkirk was no slouch. I genuinely think he has taken them a little by surprise because I think he probably works at home like a Mahler, but he showed what a good traveller he is and he has a turn of foot. I have covered him for the supreme as well and the prices on the exchange for both races are still 3 figures if people want to play at low stakes. I won’t be covering the AB.

If he runs him on deep ground he will end up in handicaps most likely.

It’s possible but I think he’s better and not a dodge either.

Okay, he’s had a Bartlett winner, my post wasn’t about him never having a winner even then, he hardly lit the world on fire did he as a novice and was quite un fancied that day wasn’t he?

In more recent times his 2m horses etc seem to hit the ground running then fade away as the big guns come out. Whether Encanto Bruno stays at 2m (he is for his next target) and then up in distance afterwards we’ll see.

As I said I do like the horse, it’s just with my approach I’m not rushing to back him or any of Cromwells novices.
