  • Southoftheborder did it well for Nicky on hurdles debut today at Sandown. Thats 3/3 for him now could be one for the Supreme. He does like to start a good one off at Sandown like Constitution Hill

Has Hendo said anything post race as I had expected him to go out in trip soon based on him pointing out his staying attributes and pedigree.

      • Snippet from Hendo re Southoftheborder following todays win …full quote on Sporting life

“You want to go gently with this lad for the time being as he doesn’t need winding up yet. He will get further when we want to there is no doubt it.”

Talking about the new listed race at the tingle creek meeting next.

          • When I met Nicky over summer East India Express was the one he name checked, over the years Ive realised that its not always the ones hes talking about that you want to be backing but it was the one, so see how he goes. I havent backed for Chelt but have backed today FWIW

            • Was anyone else expecting a bigger market reaction to Down Memory Lane's performance ?
He's probably beaten pigs but he's travelled well, jumped well and knowing these bookies don't usually miss an opportunity to shorten anything I thought he's have been given more of a haircut...

I was surprised. Usually that type of visual performance beating muck still achieves a price cut. Must have been a lack of rocket and aeroplane emojis on twitter.

Backed him for Supreme after watching his bumper.
Have now covered with today and any race.
                  Here’s hoping!!

Yup me too. Perhaps it was Gordon's comments re 2 miles? If he'd have said "I'll step him up now" that would've better aligned with what appears to be the common consensus and may have seen a pile on.

                      Very much so actually

If I hadn't backed before the race I definitely would be at 16/1 Ballymore and maybe a saver on 25/1 Supreme (or 20/1 with cashout and try and get lucky)

                        Yes, he looks very classy.

The other that really impressed me and didn’t get the across the board short back and sides I expected was Il Est Francais.

Still available at 25-1 for the Turners and Brown Advisory.

I know there are doubts about whether he’ll make the trip.

But he’s got a British owner, is being aimed at the Kauto Star and would have a couple of months to recover from the Fez before the French Gold Cup.

Of course he’ll come over and could be very special.

Yes and no. Yes, because of his ease of victory, the way he went about his business and his connections, no, because of what he beat. The race was awful, like really awful once the 2nd fav got pulled out. Only one rival under 10/1, the majority 50's+.

The piss poor field doesn't usually stop the bookies from cutting one from powerful connections
