Hes following the Sidney Banks route to Cheltenham.
That ended up in the Supreme.
Simple as that ain’t it ?

Incidentally…..has any connections ever mentioned the Ballymore for Jeriko?
This is how I see it, and pretty sure mentioned this route a few weeks back now.

It just looks obvious. He reminds me very much of Shishkin too.

Like he's been searching for one !! and hasn't been training for 30+ years in this country.

Same old thing every year with Henderson. Sometimes he'd be better off saying nothing at all.

Yeah I agree, the older he gets the less he should say imo
He’s in demand and he is obliging, basically he’s a nice person, but I do think he would be better off if he was less obliging.
Probably save him from some of the flack he gets.

Yeh his heart is in the right place, for all it can be annoying.
At least we get to see JDR again. Really hope he comes up against something semi decent as these runs vs dross are really hard to weigh up.

                Very hard to weigh up!!
When I watched his first run I was quite interested in how his jockey rode the race….like he knew he was on a good one? If that makes sense.
He has to me been ridden in both races with a view to educating him and giving as much race experience as he can in two pretty uncompetitive races .
I would hope his last run before Cheltenham gives him more valuable experience in hopefully a better standard race.
Whatever happens, I doubt we will really know how good he is until Cheltenham.
Mind you, the way the Supreme is going, we might not find out then!!…. It’s possible he could be very good.

                  Yeh agree with that.
I'd like to see him have a scrap (a bit like Jonbon had at Haydock pre supreme)
Hard to see whats going to line up at Huntington to offer up that battle but we'll see.
I want to see him post a 145+ RPR and really announce himself as a supreme contender.

                    .

A mate of mine won a day at Nicky Hendersons yard a couple of years ago in a charity auction and he invited me as a guest. We had a really nice day. Started with the morning gallops. Really interesting. All the staff were very open and obliging. Nicky and his wife could not have been nicer. Breakfast and lunch in their kitchen. Robert and Sam Whaley-Cohen were both there too. They were great company and very happy to share their knowledge. The one person who was an absolute ass hole was Barry Geraghty. An absolute prick of a man. Looked down his nose at us throughout and did not engage at all even when sat next to me at breakfast. God knows why. He's a fucking jockey but behaved like The Lord of the Manor. One of the others there who shall remain nameless noticed his attitude and said out of earshot "don't worry about Barry he's a moody bastard" to which my mate quick as a flash replied "thank God for that because I thought he'd found out I shagged his mum"..................and said person pissed himself laughing. Was a great comeback one-liner.

But net net. Nicky Henderson and his wife were absolutely lovely hosts. And yes I can confirm he is a good guy at heart.

interesting that Ballyburn has been backed from 2/1 into 5/4 for the G1 novice over 2m. There will be so many people willing him to get tapped for toe so he goes up in trip. FWIW I wont be one of them, hope he shits in and they stick to the minimum.

I think Ballyburn is Willie's best novice hurdler, and what Willie normally does is goes to the easiest race for his best one, as a general rule, IMO.

If Jeriko wins the Sidney Banks well, Willie will go down the Ballymore route with Ballyburn, regardless of how he runs at the DRF. He done the same with Sir Gerhard, avoiding Constitution Hill, he done the same with Appreciate It, avoiding Bob Olinger. He wants to give his best one the best chance of winning, and there'll be no stamina doubts for Ballyburn for either race.

Of course, it could be a case of Gidleigh Park dotting up on trials day and Jeriko disappointing in the Sidney Banks, in which case, he may well end up in the Supreme, again, regardless, of what happens at the DRF.

If both Jeriko and Gidleigh win well I think he'd much prefer to avoid a Hendo Supreme horse than a Harry Fry Ballymore horse.

I wouldn't take what he does at the DRF as a definitive, as to what race he will end up in. Sir Gerhard bolted up in the race and went for the Ballymore. Because it's over 2m people will automatically assume he'll end up in the Supreme. It's not the case with Willie. He's sent a few to the Ballymore after winning this race (some over the 2m2f trip, before it was shortened).

Even as a Ballymore only backer, I still want him to win at the DRF, but I also want Jeriko to piss in in the Sidney Banks.

                          • If Ballyburn was to win impressively in Leopardstown. What do most think the initial impact on his price in the Ballymore market to be?

I'm considering backing him for the Ballymore but if he does win impressively he could potentially drift.

He'd be backed in for both

                              • If he doesn't win at the DRF he wouldn't win either the Supreme or ballymore would he?

So regardless what you're on him for you want him to win

Personally I don't think he jumps well enough for a supreme (bit like sir gerhard?) Which will have them leaning ballymore even if he wins at the drf easily
