  • Did Mullins say something about ile Atlantique dropping in trip for the supreme? Didn't see anything myself but saw a post on twitter which indicates he did?

Dont think I've seen anything, but is he going to go another furlong in trip? That looked a stretch too far today

Yes. Strangely it’s only reported in the racing post at the very end of the article. I’ve not seen any video footage. And it’s not reported at Irish Racing or Sporting Life

        • "I thought Ile Atlantique was very brave. Paul was very happy with him at all stages. He did all the donkey work and gave Daryl a tow the whole way, Daryl just really outstayed him late and the two of them stretched clear the whole way to the line. They are two good horses and the two of them handle good ground too.
"I said before the race that I thought it was the top novice hurdle run over the Christmas and New Year period in Ireland or Britain, and that it was going to tell everybody where they stood, so I am very happy that I had the first and second and that they all ran very well. Looking at that, Ile Atlantique could be a Supreme horse. The third, Lecky Watson, was unlucky too, he was just too keen the whole way."

          • Yeah it's only at the end of that one article, nothing about it on other sites and only one clear mention of it on twitter, I thought that sort of comment would have got a lot more attention.

            • Worthwhile listening to Willie being interviewed after Tullyhill's victory if you didn't catch it::

              • Id say RTR has booked his spot in the Ballymore but do we think there is a chance IA goes Supreme?

Watched the race back and RTR did really well. There were a couple of points in the race where I wasn't sure he'd place let alone win.

IA was venturing into the unknown there and with a murky supreme picture im thinking 20/1 might be worth chancing.

                Thoughts folks?

Yes. Flick up a few posts and Willie has name checked the Supreme for IA.

I also think the way he runs his races, the Supreme would be better suited. Although I also think Townend needs to get to work on him much earlier. He seems lazy.

My thoughts yesterday were most of them were not good enough and that the front two were Ballymore horses or maybe AB for the winner.
After what trainer has said though, one could look at 20’s for IA. As you say the Supreme is murky and they all have their price.
                    NRNB available at 14 also.

Yeh the NRNB is probably the smarter play

                      • I'd be marking up the winner of the Lawlors after rewatching it and the rest of the card. He's the only winner to come from off the pace and Naas does have a bias to those racing prominently.

He didn't jump that fluently, knocked the last down and still got up to win. I don't see IA reversing that form at Cheltenham or another course over that distance.

If I was an Ile Atlantique backer I would be going NRNB until final Dec's. I read what was said yesterday but also read at the start of the season that he was a stayer and would prefer soft ground (similar views from Patrick and Willie). Willie also suggested that stepping back in trip for Tullyhill was the right thing to do so he could go Supreme if his jumping gets slicker.

Yep,Tully needs to improve his jumping for a Supreme.
The 20 nrnb could look nice come the day if he jumps ok next time.
If he doesn’t improve I would hope he doesn’t run.

                              • Couldn’t help but notice Willie say he might one or even two more runs into Tullyhill before Cheltenham.

                                Handicap job maybe??
