Ground conditions at the Fez could change a lot of targets. As always, Willie will enter his Novices for everything and make late decisions on some.

Watching the Ballyburn race back (and I thought it at the time) he was losing ground at most hurdles, he wasn’t the fastest over them. And the main bit that won him the race was right at the end where he galloped away around the bend and up the straight where the fences were omitted. To me I think the longer Ballymore trip with them not going at as break neck a speed as in the Supreme would suit him much better, where he doesn’t have to hurdle so quicklyLast edited by Winging The Last; 31 December 2023, 12:13 AM.

Willmount is a busted flush but loved that from JDR. Looked momentarily like the others would give him a race but he went away from them with consummate ease. Hard to know what that form amounts to but he looks to have bundles of talent.

Jeriko Du Reponet and Paradias jumped the last in unison, but it was the class of the Seven Barrows inmate that took over on the run to the line as he cruised clear to win by one-and-three-quarter-lengths from a staying-on Secret Squirrel, with Paradias back in third.
The winner was shortened into 5-1 favourite from 7-1 with Coral for the opening race of the Cheltenham Festival, while Paddy Power were unchanged as 6-1 market leader.
“I didn’t really want to make the running on my own as he is still inexperienced and thankfully Gary Moore’s horse went forward,” James Bowen told Racing TV.
“We hacked around, but once I gave him a squeeze he really quickened for me. I was never really in doubt but once I did squeeze him he gave me some feel. He’s good.
“He was good then and he is obviously quite a smart horse and I was very happy with him.”

With JDR, the race was obviously slow (most time lost between 4 out and 3 out) but he made up around 20-22 lengths compared to par from the 2nd last and around 15 from the last effortlessly. They think he's more of a stayer and said beforehand they didn't want a test of speed but he's passed the test of speed very easily. Just need to see him in a truer run race before Cheltenham. He's a bit like Jonbon where nothing in his first 2 races wanted to take it on but he got a truer run race at Haydock so hopefully he will go there.
Willmount obviously disappointing but he was beat too early for that to be his running. He was a bit too keen so they'll need to sort that out. Obvious race for him was the Formby but the owner didn't want to go to Liverpool. Still not sure why the Challow was picked though. There's a 2m novice hurdle at Exeter he could have ran in under a penalty tomorrow, as well as one next Saturday at Wincanton.

just can’t believe that Willie won’t have a decent dart for the Supreme and it’s for me is not for me
pretty sure Ballyburn is his best novice hurdler
Willie def plans Bally as 2.5m now judging by his interviews (much as u can believe them!)…..but think depends on DRF entry ….if he goes 2m6f then it’s Ballymore ….,but were he to go 2m & win easily that might change his mind as his best 2m option
Think it might be worth looking at a few of his better ones at good prices for Supreme….does need Stamina to go there …,Ile Atlantique? Tullyhill? Etc ….tho at first balance none obvious
Didn’t sense Ruby any big fan of Its For Me & he thinks Ballyburn is Supreme horseFat Jockey Patron (est. Jan 2021)

Certainly be interesting to see if they run Ile Atlantique in the Lawlors or not. Probably will as they keep mentioning he's more of a staying type however, i wonder will they be tempted to try him as their 2 miler. I know it's lazy to compare Energumene to this guy, just because of his colours, but all along he was more of a "stayer" but he still managed to end up a 2miler! Willie doesn't have a surefire Supreme candidate yet but he arguably has a Ballymore one.
Could run Blizzard of Oz, HCH and maybe Reading Tommy Wrong vs Firefox in the Lawlors instead and see how much Firefox has improved- if he goes lol.

Think the prices available now for A Dream to Share are more than reasonable.
Nothing looks dominant in the supreme, the bumper form is still looking solid enough.
He has had 5 runs in bumpers, and effectively didn't make his debut until Dublin festival last season as his previous run was June the year before.
Would not bother me one bit if he only has one run before the supreme.
Only doubt as always is if he's not as natural a jumper as some are, in which case the lack of experience would be a worry, but at 10-1 it's worth a pop IMO.

Completely agree. Despite his minor injury his odds have always stayed pretty steady. Not surprised as there hasn't been anything out yet that you could say has hit you in the face as a Supreme banker. His Bumper form is clearly very good and he's unbeaten. If he comes out and puts in a decent shift then he'll be the one to beat again.

If Staffordshire Knot bumps the Cork form tomorrow I’ll be getting Readin Tommy Wrong onside for the Ballymore if he’s entered in the Lawlors on Tuesday. With Its For Me touted for the Moscow Flyer. Be interesting to see if both himself & Blizzard Of Oz both get entries.

Jeriko was fantastic, I thought he was special,” said Henderson.
“We rode a horse who is a real good galloper for speed and he actually beat speed horses. I thought he was fantastic. He waltzed away from them and he will gallop forever.
“He’ll have to have another run before Cheltenham and if he doesn’t run before then, he won’t run at Cheltenham.”
One option available is Haydock’s Sky Bet Supreme Trial Rossington Main Novices’ Hurdle, which Henderson won with Jonbon two seasons ago, while Kempton’s Dovecote Novices’ Hurdle could be another route to Prestbury Park available to the five-year-old.
Henderson added: “It’s not where I would like to go (Haydock) but there isn’t too much else. Kempton would be very close, so I don’t know – someone put a race on somewhere!”
