    • Thoughts on Irish Point for the stayers as he's staying hurdling?

Yes and with the comment from Gordon regarding the mid trip being IP's target this year I'd not be confident of having a runner there.

          • …perhaps worth considering OJA suggestions before they get a haircut.

            • Bump. Thinks Middle_Of_March got hell of a job this month.

              • Following Spectre’s suggestion about approach the where the fav might not win, and there is value in the market, how about:

                Banbridge (Ryanair)
                Maskarda (Mares’Chase)
                Iroko (BANC).

                All have course form.

Personally not keen on banbridge at prices but on similar theme
bravemansgame at 12-1 is very good value
you’d take that just to push GDC closer with slightly different tactics and luck.
And there’s every chance he’ll run well in his pre Cheltenham races whereas the second season chasers often find it difficult early season unless they are absolutely top drawer or get soft races.
If the favourite didn’t make it and brave wins his preps I reckon you’d be sitting pretty.

                  • Perhaps you should think about doing an EW Yankee ??

BMG would be a great one for starters at 12's

                    • These four haven’t made it into any yankees so far.

MIRAZUR WEST (Sup) 20-1 ticks a lot of boxes.

QUALIMITA (CB) 16-1 looked a class act in her only point and will benefit from the weight allowance.

ENERGUMENE (Ryan) 20-1 just can’t see Willie pitching him against El Fab in the CC if Allaho doesn’t reach his former level and that’s gonna be a tall order aged 10. The price makes the risk worthwhile.

FASTORSLOW (GC) 16-1 twice proven at the Festival and beat the GC favourite last time they met - but still a double figure price. What’s not to like.

                      Prices from Billy.

                        • For a "take on the favourites Yankee" I'd be thinking along the lines of:

Facile Vega (A) - Marine Nationale was the better hurdler but FV is entitled to be a lot closer over fences. I think the difference in odds between them is probably too great.

Gala Marceau (MH) - the extra distance in the Mares Hurdle gives her a chance to reverse the Triumph form

Teahupoo (SH) - no doubt Flooring Porter turns up and makes it a stamina test again. Will Gaelic Warrior respond to that pressure? We know Teahupoo nearly won from that pace last year and remains young enough to improve again.

Fastorslow (GC) - given how he has been campaigned it's possible we are just seeing the best of him over 3m in a division which might turn out not to be too deep this season.

All came second or third at the Festival so have shown they can handle the track.

Unlikely that it’ll be an each way Yankee at this stage with the likelier horses mentioned so far.

I do have a couple in mind that were spoken about earlier in the thread and previous months consistently though.

Anything untoward? Or just that he gets beat?
