  • September ‘23 Yankee

    We’ve ticked into September, so as we await MoMs final selections for August I see no reason why we can’t start this months discussion.

    No idea if MoM will want a theme but I’m sure I’m not alone in reading the output from the Elliott stable in recent days. A couple specifically might be worth including after getting positive reports;

    Conflated (XC)

    Brighterdaysahead (MNH)

    A bit limited on XC markets but the 6-1 for Conflated could be worth getting on board, I’d be suggesting him with BDA.

      ….it’s certainly something we need to consider. My understanding is 50k settlement day limit is only with PP/BFSB but initial indication is it applies to bets already placed with those firms. Fear is other firms go the same way.

      A quick look at the settlement day for our wagers so far (not accounting for our personal bets placed);

      March Yankee; settlement day Thurs.
      April; Thurs (but Apr/Mar bets can’t both go in as they include different selections in the same race).
      May; Thurs (ditto above, the Mar/Apr & May selections can’t all win)
      Jun; Fri settlement day.
      Jul; Thurs (April & Jul contain different selections in the same race).

      We’ll have to watch which firm we go with, ditch the bet or maybe do a monthly Trixie.

          Yes,

          Sorry to drop the PP/BFR news scandal into Fat Jockey, today.

          But better to be armed with the detail, rather than let them hide what they’ve done from us:-

          SHAME, SHAME,
          SHAME, SHAME,

          You're right we need to be very careful who any Yankee bets are placed with.

          17 x 17 x 17 x 17 (on four 16/1 shots is 83,520/1) so you’d be lucky to have a 50p Yankee with Paddy Power or Betfair on that without busting their limits.

          Even two 16/1 shots and two 10/1 shots would probably be tight on more than a quid Yankee.

          Unbelievable short-sighted decision by these former sensible-type bookies, now owned by a conglomerate, whose soul isn’t based on these shores.

            Really is taking the piss, they may as well just scrap the horses and become as online slots company.

                Is this from now on? I have a lot of yankees on when rules stated 200k per and 1m max per day.

                If rules have changed now then I assume that is just moving forwards?

                  I would think that’s the plan, like many American race tracks, just used for giant slot sheds, with racing on the side, watched by next to no-one apart from the big race days,

                    From whenever the rules changed.

                    They haven’t told any punters when they changed their rules, as far as I know, just kept customers in the dark.

                    This from the folks who want to see your payslips and bank statements, and no doubt say it will all be okay with them!

                    I did check all the Maximums for the firms around a month ago, and posted on FJ the list of firms and their antepost, and their “on the day” limit amounts.

                    I don’t recall Paddy Power and Betfair having hacked their antepost limit from 250K to 50K at that time.
                    So maybe it’s changed in the last month.

                    An 80% limit cut, unbelievable isn’t it.

                    Anything before that should be at the limits offered in their rules at the time the bet was accepted, I would hope and expect.
                    Anything less and they would be involved with a heap of s**t., from all sides.

                        Nothing springs to mind but we could go with a trainer Yankee. The Elliott Yankee in recent years has gone quite well from memory.

                          Like the trainer yankees! Do we do Elliott next month as we'll have seen the NHC horse at Cheltenham and have the Down Royal entries before the end of it?
