This was my immediate thought but didn't want to put it up here and miss any prices for that!

At the end of the season, it would be amazing to have a look back on the discussions and plans that were made and why different routes were chosen, what expectations were had, how well horse was working in the run up to different races, how that improved etc. I don't know how much of that is information that doesn't want/need to be released but for me personally, it would really bring the experience to life (more so than me counting the return that would have been made on the horse and whether the final loss would have been something I could afford at this point in my life!)

    • I see The King has been given a career-best 136rpr for Chepstow.

Must admit I thought he’d get 140+ but possibly a difficult race to get a firm handle on at this stage of the season.

At any rate he looks well capable off leaving that figure well behind in the future.

And if the handicapper takes a similarly modest view along the lines of the rpr assessment I imagine it leaves all the balls (maybe 6!!) still in play for the Festival.

What fun lies in store for Team Spectre.

Sadly I’m not involved but surely this must be what the joy of racehorse ownership is all about (speaking from complete ignorance as someone who’s never owned so much as a tail).

Party on guys - and long may it continue.

      • Thanks for the really positive feedback everyone. I can't pretend we won't be watching what the handicapper does. He's a graded level novice, but if you're given the chance in a valuable handicap you'd have to look at it. That's genuinely not a loaded statement by the way. We will take it race to race and see where he takes us.

He's a big unit and a horse that's hard on himself in his races, so we're assuming we'll need to carefully space his races, but you never know how fresh horses are until they light up on the gallops. It'll be a big learning job with him this season. We'll do everything possible to get the best from him, which also elongates his career. I very much fall in the camp that you look after them, and avoid over-racing and putting unnecessary miles on the clock.

That's been amended up then, was originally 135.
The runner up is an unexposed Evan Williams horse and there was a fair way back to the third, I would expect the handicapper to slam 7lb on the King which may not be enough to stop him winning again but if there are plans for a big (festival) pot then you'd imagine they'd want his mark to remain in the 130s for the next 5 month, step forward Dan Skelton, best man in the business for that....

          • I see the King is entered up in the 70k former Fixed Brush at Haydock in 3 weeks, if all is well after his recent run would that be considered?

            • It was a precautionary entry just in case he didn't jump as we expected Madmoose. The entry had to be made on the morning of his race. We won't take it up now, and he'll stay chasing.

                • Spectre is your fella going to run on Friday? Unexpected Party currently heads the Arkle market but a deluge of support has come for the Paddy Power and I'm wondering if your lad is the super sub?

                  • On RP Harry is jocked up on Unexpected Party. Does this actually mean anything or just pure guess? Love a bit of insight. TY

5 day entries. Virtually everything is blue across the boards.
