Congratulations to all of you that are involved, that must have been some thrill watching that today! It was very impressive the way that Harry was prepared to sit some way back and then gradually work through the field on the back straight and round the turn, and if anything it looked as if he got to the front slightly too early, but what a start for Spectre Racing!

Thanks everyone. Apologies for the slow response. I was back late yesterday evening and pretty tired.
Yes very happy with that. He jumped ridiculously well. You'd never have guessed he was the novice amongst experienced chasers. He was taking half a length out of everything at most fences.
Amazing too that he needed the race and will come on a bundle for it! Those jumps at the second last and the last. Wow! Plus he will improve further as he steps up in trip. He's a very exciting horse that's flown under the radar because Dan minded him over hurdles with a view to keeping mileage low before he went chasing. As a 17hh horse he's built for the job he's doing now, and he'll win graded chases. As you can imagine we're really looking forward to finding out just how good he can be.
It's worth watching the race back to see what a good ride Harry gave him too. I've watched a few times now and you really see the benefit of Harry's experience on an inexperienced horse. Him and Dan are some Team. The best in the country in my opinion. It's not just what you see on the racecourse, what they do off it is unbelievably good. Give Dan the money that Nicholls and Henderson get and they wouldn't see him for dust.Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

Congratulations to you on such a good performance from the horse.I look forward to seeing how he progresses.
I imagine you are still quite excited and happy after yesterday, but I’m not sure about comments you make re the Skeltons and PN and NH.
Yes, you are of course entitled to your opinions, and I have no doubt that Dan is a talented trainer, but I do think it a bit of a stretch to say that two of the best and most successful trainers we have ever seen would not see him for dust on equal money terms.
Not sure that was necessary, and imo a tad disrespectful.

Personally I would not mind any of the three to be honest, and a few others I admire and respect.
I certainly would not put age as a reason not to send my horse, but experience and know how and track records would be high on my list.

Might have been better for you to have ignored it. - getting offended on other peoples behalf isn't healthy.
It's not disrespectful to have that opinion either. Most might disagree with it, but it has nothing to do with respect IMO.

As I said I liked his performance and I’m looking forward to seeing how he progresses.
You think it not disrespectful after all NH and PN have achieved over decades ?? Guess we differ then, no worries.
Some posts I read I do indeed ignore, others I feel I want to respond to.
We are all different and I make no apologies for the way I am.

It’s a nothing comment, as Q says just ignore it, like 99.9% of people on here will and have done.
Let me know if I’m just pissing in the wind responding, if anything your comments will have annoyed more people on what was meant to be a celebration!

In answer to your question…….
I did not think it Necessary to add the last bit of the post bringing in PN and NH.
And I found the comments saying two of the best trainers we have ever seen with decades of achievements not being seen for dust as disrespectful.
I have annoyed people, guess we all do that at times….. I was annoyed as well.
We all get over it.

We need to understand Spectre is no longer anonymous.
Having benefited enormously from a mentor myself I know how strong loyalties are. I’m sure that’s how Dan feels about PN.
I’m sure he wouldn’t have said this likely throwaway comment in a live interview and my friendly advice would be to treat this forum in a similar way from now on.
All said with complete positive intent and desire to help.
My opinion for what it’s worth , sing the praises of Dan and teams to the highest but keep the comparisons with other named trainers to a select few and not the masses.
I hope this post is not seen as a balloon burster. I have experienced the thrill of being a winning owner and I wouldn’t want to take that feeling away from anyone. I’m just trying to impart a little advice.
