  • It must be gutting for the lads as the carrot was dangled big time.
Dreams crushed for now, hopefully good excuses made from Dan. I reckon the best he can come up with is that he thinks the horse would need it worse than soft over that trip to beat the bag of shit that's declared.

Noted the ground is officially Soft (good to soft places), with 6-10 mm forecast tomorrow and no evaporation to speak of.
    Maybe not "genuine soft" though
Hopefully stays fit and moves on to the next potential race now.
    Good luck fella's.

    • Agree. It did look a good opportunity. Maybe he needs more time between races. Plenty of other opportunities.

If that's the case, why make the entry.
Historical grade 2 at headquarters, won by the likes of Best Mate, Put the Kettle On, Dodging Bullets and others.
        Weakest renewal ever.

Possibly not showing that he's completely recovered yet from Chepstow? Any number of reasons. Perhaps even on the likely testing ground they have come round to thinking he'd be taken off his feet over 2? Dan knows best.

Perhaps Spectre can't make it there on Friday

            Dreams crushed.

I'm not sure how I'll bounce back. Everything I've ever dreamt about, taken away at 10am this morning.

I'll be closing the forum when the race starts on Friday, so make the most of it while you all can.

            No point carrying on.

              - Do we need to send someone round ?

I suggest you put your T-Rex costume on and go and live under the railway arches in Chester town centre.
You could become a character about town. And randomly speak in a cornish accent, like the Tizzards.

People will tell the story of how you got there - And how you missed being on course when your horse won it's first race and then lost the opportunity to have a graded winner at Cheltenham with a load of other Cheltenham festival obsessed people.

People will say, who's to blame, he had everything ?

Then they'll point at the fella in the purple Fez, off his head on Spice, sat next to you.

                  • Apologies everyone for the slow response. I've been away and didn't look in.

Essentially it was an entry to take a look, but a decision to run would have been a deviation from the season's plan. We would only have run on slow ground, and after a conversation with the course Dan suspected it would be good to soft, which as it turned out was correct.

Essentially he'll be campaigned to maximize his season, and a hard enough race over two miles on the wrong ground won't achieve that. The decision was left with Dan, and if he thought it was the right thing to do I'd have supported it. However, I'm completely sure not running was the correct decision.
Luck is a dividend of sweat. The more I sweat, the luckier I get.

                              • Yeah, best of luck chaps.

Just messaged Kevloaf to say he's been added by William Hill in the 'any race' category @ 16/1 if anyone is looking that far ahead for him.

I've used a couple of the 100% boosts on him for 32/1 which I feel is fair.
