Anthony Bromley, racing representative of owners Isaac Souede and Simon Munir and the man who purchases most of their horses, intimated that while the five-year-old has the size to be a chaser, the move to larger obstacles might be put on hold while the education process continues.
“He was quite switched off in the race and Paul had to wind him up a little bit turning but he picked up,” noted Bromley.
“To be fair, some of his races haven’t always been impressive. In the Moscow Flyer (at Punchestown), he wasn’t ‘Wow,’ and that’s why they went up in trip. He just needs to be woken up. I think there’s so much talent under the bonnet and I think he’s still a work in progress.
“He’s a big frame of a horse. He only had one bumper run last year and that’s his fourth hurdle run. I think the plan might be to stay hurdling and learn a bit more. But, the great Willie will tell us. In Willie we trust!

….very persuasive case put forward by Saxon Warrior & Spectre for Gerri C inclusion. I know TRW inflicted that defeat at Cheltenham but the extra distance in the GC could be decisive given the way Gerri C finished.
My current thinking is we leave the Hunter Chase alone for now given only a few firms have it priced up and we’ve had an early pop at one already.
Still, we have plenty of time to debate as we only tick into July tomorrow.Last edited by Eggs; 30 June 2023, 04:53 AM.

These were Mullins RP comments post-Punchestown. I know chasing was mentioned somewhere but couldn't find it.
“Would you have backed him turning in? Me neither,” Mullins said.
He added: “He didn't impress me at all. I'm delighted he won, and by so far, but during the race he was not impressing me. He didn't look like he was enjoying it and maybe Cheltenham took much more out of him than we thought. At home he was on fire, and maybe I did too much with him because he was doing so well.
“I know it's hard to say something was wrong when he won by that much. He loved the hill at Cheltenham so much, he really got going, and maybe on this flatter track he was not as effective. I'll have a good chat with Paul about it, but he has a huge engine to win despite not looking like he was enjoying himself. We were thinking of going to France with him but we might have to think again about that.”

Afternoon all. Firstly - thanks to Eggs for his help and effort with these. It is much appreciated knowing they’re in safe hands. As for me, I’m looking to be back for the August Yankee in a month. Basically when I’m in a not-great headspace, I can spiral over a few weeks/months if I don’t tackle it early. One of the things I’ve done in that time without realising in the past was gamble ever so slightly more amongst other vices. The betting itself wasn’t a problem but more about the time I was taking to try to distract myself which ultimately does nothing to improve my situation.
Hence deciding for a bit of a break to sort things. Have quite literally, Ascot and Epsom asides (and the odd cricket bet), not had a punt at all and more importantly not spent time burying my head in the sand studying form but trying to work on me. Sorted some home and work stuff out which was necessary and also just came back from 2 weeks in Manchester with my best friend who knows how to be with me things aren’t great. Am also off to Scotland at the end of this month with her family camping.
All in all, feeling a lot more content than six weeks ago. Feels like I’ve been in preventative mode to stop any chance of going downhill in the coming months (as some of you may remember from a few years ago) and it is working. Thanks for the messages as well on here and in the real world. Very much appreciated. Onwards and upwards and I’ll see you all in a few weeks. MOM.

I’ve posted comments on here regarding blue Lord and el fabiolo. Bromley has sourced horses for us in the past and I often speak to him and he’s very open. My comments have probably largely ignored. If I were to have an antepost bet on IEP, it’d be for champion hurdle. Plans can change, but I’d never knowingly tuck anyone away. That’s all I have to say on the subject, but I won’t comment anymore, as I don’t wish this to be another dysart Dynamo going for the supreme tennis game.

All in El Fabiolo is what I take from that....

…which is exactly what we want in filtering out 4 potential winners. We all know the perils of ante-post and any information posters can provide is a welcome bonus.
I think at the prices for the Turners, IEP is not worth risking at this point.

Good Land.
Going chasing. Looks the ideal race for him. Came back from Cheltenham and was off colour so ran a massive race in the circumstances. Nearly everything around him in the betting would have Big Q marks about them turning up. 20's looks way too big.

Your looking for near certainty of targets, or at least the most likely/logical choice out of two options.
If I were putting on a Festival Yankee this far out, for myself, I’d be looking at horses like….
Gerri Colombe - Gold Cup 7/1. (Festival 2nd in Chase, as 7yo)
Salvador Ziggy - NHC 14/1 (Festival 2nd at 3M)
State Man - Champion Hurdle 6/1 (Festival 1st, 2nd at 2M as 5yo/6yo)
Dinoblue - Mares Chase 16/1 (Festival 2nd in Chase as a 6yo)
—————————
Facile Vega - Arkle 5/1 (Festival 1st, 2nd over 2M as 5yo/6yo)
with either a definite, or a likely target (and do the Yankee with Cashout, if I had it).
If I wanted to narrow the risk, then I’d pick
El Fabiolo - Champion Chase 2/1 (Festival C&D Chase winner as 6yo)
There’s not too many options at the moment, when knowing fixed targets
So I’d prefer to back horses with a decent age profile, who have proved themselves at Cheltenham, and that could have the capacity to do it again.

Getting Energumene now at 3/1 seems easy too.... CC seems made for him. Really like Gerri at 6/1 in the GC. FV at 5/1 in the Arkle could look GENIUS if CH stays in the CH and IEP goes to the Turners. Those plus State Man could be a good one. It is a funny time of year knowing that at least one of your picks is going to be up against Constitution Hill....
Gerri Colombe - Gold Cup 6/1
State Man - Champion Hurdle - 6/1
Energumene - Champion Chase - 3/1
Facile Vega - Arkle 5/1
Prices are PP.
Feels a bit skinny but would be nice all the same....
