  • I’ll throw one out there that I believe hasn’t been mentioned at all yet.

Mr Policeman for the Arkle, around 20/1.

I’d never heard pf the horse until last week but I've delved into the form of his Cork (Irish) debut and it looks to have some substance.
Apparently been schooled over fences already…

He looks likely to go over fences doesn’t he?

One run since arriving at Willies yard over hurdles, clocking up a big 150 RPR, already throws him up as a good one to consider from the right stable.

All depends where he fits in with Facile Vega, IEP etc, in the stable.
and if IEP didnt go chasing that gives him more scope to contend among Willies best novice chasers

As nothing has come to light surely it has to be the former ?? I'm not sure this year's race was run to suit her either. She had to make her own running and her class showed through. She showed lots of pace as well which surprised a few people. She did have a very hard race though being the only one to put it up to Honey and that showed at Punchestown.
I completely agree that Love Envoi didn't run her race at Punchestown but having read istas comments and looked back through LEs form, I'd venture it was probably the ground being too fast. She's never had a "jumped left" in her racing post comments and then that's all she did at punchestown - suggests she was feeling something so if they didn't find anything it was probably the ground.

The mares hurdle was run to suit prominent racers last year. LE has raced prominently in all but one of her races under rules. She may be better with a lead but she wasn't inconvenienced anywhere near as much as the hold up horses who couldn't get into the race.

Anyway, none of that means she can't win this year, I just wanted to add some caution to the argument. I'm not sure what's coming through from the novice ranks to take her on in all honesty - maybe ashroe diamond, alongside the juveniles that I have reservations about, but she's a hold up performer as well. Maybe LE will get an easy time out front again with youwearitwell looking like she's going chasing? I dunno, it's a difficult race for me.

Fwiw at this point my four would be:

          Galopin
          El fabs Good land (turners)
          Marie's rock (stayers)

I quite like him based on that debut run. I think his BFX price for the Turners is not mad. I've not seen any quotes but he doesn't seem from previous runs that he has to stick to 2m. If IEP were to stay hurdling then Mullins Turners runners does really open up and he might become an option.

            • Just the 1 8yo has won the Mares Hurdle and that was the great Quevega and just the one 5yo has won and that was Apples Jade so Love Envoi and the Mullins 4yo's have it all to do on stats. Maybe we should be looking elsewhere...........

Plenty that we don’t know, that’s the fascination of it all.

Yep. 7yo's have an incredible record in the race so maybe that's where we should be looking? Ashroe Diamond meets that stat but I'm not that keen on her. Time will tell.

I think someone knowledgeable posted last week that she's starting off in the Morgiana which lends itself to a 2m campaign so she would certainly be one I'd avoid unless plans change...

Good. Scratch her then. One less to worry about. I'll take a look at the other 7yo's.

Do you use trends as a hard and fast rule Lobos ?

Wonder have you heard anything more since RTC?
Exact response - He will probably go hurdling just want to get him out now his long awaited debut

How about Kateira? She's improving with every run based on rpr's. She finished 2nd in a grade 1 last time out to a horse that I think will climb the ranks next season. She will be 7 next year so fits the trend perfectly! And she's 20/1 which is fair enough.

When they are very strong I'll certainly take note. Might be something with Mares re reaching peak at 7 ?
