For me her 7lb pull puts her clear in the race, two possible spanners are Shishkin if Hendo forgets to enter him in the Gold Cup, and Allaho if he comes back as good as he was, but allowing for normal progression from novice season she should be way ahead of them all.
I’ve had a decent single 16/1 and 14/1 and have been adding to just about every multi I’m placing at 10/1 which I still think is huge value and have every intention of continuing to add her to more multis.

I was delighted when Saxon Warrior said she should be a short price fav and as the Godfather of RPR’s his endorsement is good enough for me…
What perccentage chance of going for the Mares Chase again would you think big man?

I've (lazily) just assumed she's the rightful shorty for that and put her in my mindin a box called 'roll me up baby' and now I'm hoping you know something

I was that taken with her, her rating and that she neded to step into Open Grade 1s, that I was the one that got her added to the Ryanair market.

Then posted up on FJ and shared with friends too - in my view the initial 33s I was quoted was freaky big (20th March, my Diary page 156)

I still think she's the best bet for the Ryanair - now - even if when I type that, the idea of picking a winner of that race so far out seems like madness

I walked into Hills a few weeks ago and when the bloke behind the counter read the slip he said to me ‘are you sure you have the right race, surely she wins the Mares ?’
So I asked him why would you send a 165+ rated mare to a G2 Mares race when you can nick 7lb in G1s against the boys ?
I can’t dismiss it as an option but I’ve been racking my mind for weeks trying to see if it makes any sense, and it doesn’t.
Her Punchestown win was a serious performance, effortlessly putting lengths between herself and the likes of Algerie du Vassey and Ellimay and the Mullins horse in second whose name escapes me, and crying off long before the line was Riviere D’Etel who herself has shown some class in her career, and the fact that win came on quick ground at the arse end of the season confirmed her progression throughout the season.
I am more worried about them thinking Gold Cup than Mares chase, at some point I’ll have to cover her for the blue ribband….

          Wow, 33/1, staggering price.
          Hope you climbed in SW…

          • Dinoblue could have a bearing on whether Impervious ends up in the Mares Chase or Ryanair/Gold Cup.

Also owned by JP, if she shows that she stays 2 1/2 then she could be his Mares Chase runner. That said she's done all her running/winning over the minimum and IMO I don't think she'd be as effective over the mid trip.

Personally think Impervious will run in and win the Mares Chase again. Easy pickings !

Definitely the Gold Cup but then I'm an eternal optimist !!

Remember I had Elimay as my GC horse two seasons ago !!

                  So aim high right ?
So why is it you think they’ll run her in the Mares Chase ?
JP doesn’t shy away from a challenge and she is already has an Irish rating of 158, which would probably equate to 160/161 in the UK, add on the 7lb she would get from the boys in a G1 and she is already a 167/168 horse as a novice.
There can’t be many mid trip/staying novice chasers who have knocked on the 170 door, and it’s not unreasonable that normal progression gets her into mid 170s (with allowance).
The day they run a 175 horse in a festival G2 as opposed to the multiple G1s on offer is the day the game dies for me…

                  • All about just winning at Cheltenham for everyone these days. Do they think they could beat GDC and BMG in the Gold Cup....I don't know. Would they see winning the Ryanair against the boys as a triumph...... probably not. Cheltenham wins are precious . The Mares Chase looks a gimme. If Dinoblue were to prove a suitable substitute then maybe but her two runs at the Fez says that's unlikely IMO.
Sadly and quite boringly I think she'll go Mares Chase.

                        • I think the Imp takes the Ryanair. PP already have her down at 8/1. She won't be going GC IMO. If you want a safer yankee pick then go for EA as 10s is still a steal for him in that race.

What are your thoughts on ADV now FM ?
I know how sweet you were on her pre Mares chase.
Impervious outbattled her at Cheltenham, then outclassed her at Punchestown, do you think this was Impervious progressing or ADV underperforming ?
The answer to that might have a bearing on how we think they’ll both be campaigned….

Perhaps ADV just isn't as good as people thought ? She was hyped up like the next coming but didn't impress at all when long odds on despite beating trees by a distance. She then looked as though she was going to win comfortably at Cheltenham but showed no resilience up the run in. Then she ran really poorly behind Impervious when that one beat Instit who, let's face it, isn't very good at all. Are we hyping up Impervious the same way as we did with ADV ? Has she beaten anything at all ? Does she deserve her lofty rating ? Lots of questions there.
