Can’t see Lossiemouth switching personally - why run 2 odds-on shots against each other & potentially risk a great chance in 2 races - that would be mad imo
I just can’t see Lossiemouth switching. Willie was asked about the hypothetical scenario last week and answered ‘no’. That’s the correct call too, in my opinion, in the context of what Willie has said before. Putting Lossie into the premier 2-mile event where Willie has a 170-rated and ever dependable favourite doesn’t fit the narrative of this being her segue season between juvenile and full exposure to open company.
It also doesn’t fit the usual Willie way of looking to maximise winners. He’s got two odds on favs currently. Why would he sacrifice one of those?
If they want back up to State Man, I think it’s more likely that they supplement IEP, assuming he hasn’t had a break.
Mullins’ has the new favourite for the Champion in State Man but is yet to decide if there will be a change of plan for Lossiemouth, who is one of five remaining entries for the Closutton team.
“It’s tough on Nicky (Henderson) and Michael Buckley (owner),” Mullins said.
“We’ve a week to go and we’re not there yet either, anything can happen in this game.
“I haven’t really thought about whether we’d supplement anything else. We have plenty still in it.
“Lossiemouth is still in it and I suppose a conversation will be had.”
The Mares Hurdle, in it's current format, is awful for the game and whoever bleats on about it being good for the game is widely missing the point over and over again
We have Lossiemouth, who should be running in it, avoiding it because the option is there.
You can't blame Paul / Willie for having 2 odds on shots in 40 minutes, the option shouldn't be there!
The Tuesday is shite, I'm considering not even going..... watching State Man beat a load of crap at a hack canter, before a horse who could at least make it interesting, canters around and probably out classes a field of Mares.
What the fuck have they left her in it for, in case Cons Hill AND State Man got injured?!

Bed wetters.
Think having the Mares races throughout the season is good for the game, but I agree re the Mares at the festival.
Have the Mares races at a different meeting , maybe the one where the old Bula Hurdle is held now, trial day I believe?
Think this has been mooted before on here, and makes sense to me.
