I really hope Henderson takes this ‘loss’ onboard in the bigger picture. As we discussed last week any horse can miss a race, even the festival, so run them when you can.

It’s bullshit, not sure why you feel to need to defend it CAT.

I would hope he prioritises getting him primed to take on SM at Punch.
Whether that means Aintree as well, have to wait and see how it goes I guess.
Too much missing good G1 oppsFat Jockey Patron (est. Jan 2021)

I understood his reasoning at the time.
We can all have opinions, and I don’t know if I’m correct with mine, but end of the day it doesn’t really matter.
Yes he would have run on heavy next week, it’s the Champion Hurdle.
But the point is he thought running At Newcastle was not right for the horse re the race next week.
I choose to respect that, others don’t.
Fair enough.

You Reap what you Sow.
If you don't Sow much, when you do decide to Sow, you might Reap fuck all. Or less than others that Sow more often.
New slant on an old proverb.
If State Man wins the Champion hurdle he'll have 9 grade ones vs 7 for the Hill, and it'll be 1 v 1 UK Champion hurdles and 2 v 0 Irish Champion Hurdles.
Now there's no doubt in my mind who's the better horse, but who might end up with more baubles when they hang their hooves up ?
Hopefully they get the opportunity to redress the balance for the big man, and he don't end up a one hit wonder.

I hope that changes.
Trainers have to live with decisions they make though.
Only he knows if he has regrets or not.

It’s frustrating, the sport needs its top performers and even more so needs them to run!
Q has hit the nail on the head above, couldn’t have put it better myself. Folk moan about what State Man beats in Ireland as well, it’s no different to Constitution Hill winning crap races over here. Go and take him on!

Gordon Elliott has told @RacingTV he's "keen to run" IRISH POINT in the Champion Hurdle in Constitution Hill's absence.
"State Man is going to be very hard to beat, but I’d prefer to take him on around Cheltenham rather than going round Punchestown or Leopardstown," he said.
“He’s the horse everyone has to beat and he looks a good thing, but I’d like to take him on with Irish Point.
“We’re going to be second favourite if Lossiemouth doesn’t run, I’ll have a chat with Brian in the morning and we’ll go through the horses, but I’d be keen to run him.
“He’s a classy horse, I think he’ll run a big race. The track will suit him and the ground, being a bit soft, I think will suit him.
“The favourite’s going to be very hard to beat but you should never be afraid of one horse. He hasn’t many miles on the clock and I think the race could suit him, I’m keen to run him.”Fat Jockey Patron (est. Jan 2021)
