Yep, I wasn't moaning or blaming.
Just stating a fact, IMO.
The Newcastle race being called off and ran a weak later on heavy ground, meant the turnout would inevitably be like this.

Slightly annoyed at the owners of IEP though. And surprised Gordon hasn't bothered to send one over.

And in general terms it speaks volumes about the standard of hurdlers in the UK right now.
Probably a short term thing, but the lack of class being brought through by UK trainers in the hurdling division is, as COD said embarrassing.

Yeait’s woeful. It’s a pity the flag bearer of the sport faces miles inferior opposition apart from one race a year.

You’d wonder why none of the Irish are entered up in it. Maybe the 20k or whatever it is for 2nd place isn’t worth the spin over this time of year?

State Man is probably the best in Ireland and he can have his own Grade 1,although he does have IEP as a genuine challenger.
State Man was beaten comprehensively in March so can’t blame them for not coming over.
We just have to accept that we have one that’s far superior to anything else at the moment I guess.

So how far does the Hill beat this lot by? Only bit of interest in a boring market. Had a cheeky 2pts on the 8/1 to win this and champ hurdle by 10L.

He did Stateman for 9 in Champ Hurdle so could be a fun bet to look forward to… else a reason to curse Nico now or later.

I had that bet on last year, I'm still of the belief that it was way more than 9 lengths

I had the same bet too, but put it on thinking it was Xmas Hurdle by 10 lengths & just to win the Champion Hurdle. Should probably have read it properly
