    That would make more sense.

One will be massive odds on and running 2 miles.
Shishkin got to go three and odds against.

How can he possibly be so sure it’ll affect constitution hills chances but not shishkin ?

If I was a journalist I’d ask him that question as well.
He’d likely not answer and get upset about it though.
I think you slightly misunderstood my post, maybe, maybe not but that’s cool as I’m seriously bored of the Hendo and interview stuff now so as they say on dragons I’m out.

        I think I understood.
Just that the trainer thinking one needs a run to be in shape to be at his best Boxing Day but the other would potentially be hindered by running doesn’t make much sense.
And I agree. We’re overplaying it all. And it doesn’t sound like he’s said anything too silly on this occasion anyway.

No not hindered. Just prefer to wait for kempton with march in mind that’s all.

i would add … if he is a nr tomorrow and the Champion hurdle is his second race of the season maybe it will greatly increase the chances of a trip over to Ireland . I for one would vote for that.

If the owner chooses to let the trainer make the decision that would be the owners choice. Fining the trainer does nothing, they'll just pass the bill on in the form of higher training fees.

Shouldn't really matter to any of us if he runs tomorrow anyway. If the owner and trainer don't want to run their horse because of the ground who cares. Let them plot their path to the champion hurdle the way they want. Can't imagine in 10 years time people will be looking back at CH's career thinking what could have been if only they ran him at Sandown in a shit re-scheduled fighting fifth.

            • The thing is Brooksie, we are the paying public and we want to see the best horses run as much as possible. The more this sort of thing happens the less racing fans will want to pay to watch horse racing. Something needs to be done. We can't have Trainers like Nicky dictating the sport. Without us paying public the sport would be dead.

Nicky also said today that CH was never going to go chasing. Why then did he not come out and say that earlier??!! Not good at all.

Sounds like you want something akin to the greyhound system for graded (non open ) runners where trainers have no say in entries. You can’t force them to run horses and simultaneously allow them to control entries as they simply won’t enter the horse and we will be even worse off.

Deciding not to run this weekend and run two weeks later is hardly dictating the sport. He's still probably going to be seen 4 times this year which is about the average for most grade one horses. Didn't hear much of anything when Quevega was turning up for her first run of the season at the festival, seems perfectly fine when Willie is doing it. Poor old Nicky
