He's a horse I really like and have been chipping away at the 16/1 for the Brown Advisory since the festival. My worry is also that he ends up in the Turners as i don't think he's short of speed. He's really classy and will improve for fences, imo.

    • Big Fan of Emmet because of his imagination and fresh thought.
Not so much of Frank Berry who along with JP and co, seem to be the polar opposite, and they make a lot, if not all of the race planning decisions for their horses.

Which is an interesting mix, and the way the Shunter has been campaigned since he bought him has been messy to say the least. (just look at the races he's ran in)
Probably win the National next week with him

So Corbett's Cross ?, much as I like the horse and the ability he has, it is very difficult to anticipate his likely festival race.

The Grand National may be a long term and could even be a target for 2024.
This may have changed since the purchase and they may have sights set on a traditional graded route for Spring instead.
I doubt we'll get much clarity on this for a while, although you never know.
If they start him early enough (October time), and he's had 3/4 runs by christmas then the National is in play for sure.
And they will want him well handicapped and rated in the mid to high 140's by Cheltenham/National weights day, if this is the case.

This means all options at the festival would be open, including hurdles races like the stayers, all handicap's and the graded chases.
They could even skip the festival if the National is the season target.

I think the any race market for this horse is probably the only way to approach him, and I'd go around the 8-1 mark as a par value.
I'd bet at 10-1, and leave at anything lower than 8's.
I think Sky have him at 6-1.

      • Agree Q, he's the perfect horse for a TWAR squad. I'm waiting to see what Hills come up with as they normally are the biggest in that market. Fingers crossed he's a decent price but I'm not holding my breath.

If things go to plan, it'll be the Turners or BANC imo. 10/1 for any race would be a great bet. Hope someone prices it up as that.

I'd have NHC in there also and the Handicaps should he not be up to graded class but he might hate fences so coming back to hurdles could also be an option. 10/1 would be great but I doubt we'll see bigger than 8's.

I only have him for the BANC too and my hope is that he'll be more Gold Cup than Grand National but very early days at the moment.

Doesn’t sound like hills will be offering a twar market this year. I’ve sent emails asking and received blunt negative replies so far. I think a few of you guys need to start sending emails/tweets requesting it or it seems they aren’t going to bother.

I'd be amazed if he isn't a graded horse next season.

This is gonna make things more difficult, I've always used them regularly for the twar market.

                    • If Constitution Hill does indeed stay over hurdles I'd say marine in the arkle, impaire for the turners, state man taking on the hill in champion hurdle again and I'll throw in the arkle for facile vega ! That's the same as i was thinking after the last festival and how I've backed but wouldn't stake my life on it !

I can hope, guiness ! I don't think those predictions are that outlandish though but I'd still be worried that impaire could take in the champion hurdle.
