I hate Ahoy Seniors jumping inconsistency, but appreciate the irony of that comment when talking about rolling up Sir Gerhard

    • C Hill into 2's with PP for Arkle and more interestingly 9/4 with Henderson sponsors Unibet. Unibet now biggest him for Champion Hurdle at 5/4.

                  • Theres a couple im keeping an eye out for, love envoi i would imagine something like the long walk hurdle could be quite tempting for harry fty considering the lack of talent on these shores at 3ms with the aim of a potential tilt at the stayers hurdle. And monmiral for a potential tilt for the NHC, nichols has mentioned he will be going up to 3ms next season and will be aimed quite highly ias a novice chaser, he reminds him of clan des obeaux in that hes still a weak horse but will strengthen up next season.grade 1 winning hurdler rated 145 over fences with bags of improvement and with the right trainer.

                    • Hi Birds Nest, I was thinking the same about LOVE ENVOI, think she would go very wlel in the Stayers Hurdle
However I read up on Harry Fry blog and found the below -

Our Cheltenham can probably be summed up by the expression ‘close but no cigar’! Love Envoi ran a career best. We’re very proud of her. She lost nothing in defeat, going down to a Champion of our Sport, in Honeysuckle. You can’t begrudge Henry de Bromhead and his family after what they’ve been through. The winners’ enclosure was an emotional place and understandably so. Of course deep down we’d have loved for it to have been us walking back into the number 1 spot. Our mare ran her race, there was no hard luck stories. Johnny Burke gave her a brilliant ride from the front. We knew there wasn’t going to be much pace. We thought if we can go forward and get a soft lead, she’ll lob away and when push comes to shove, she’ll keep picking up and that it would take a good one to get by her. Honeysuckle can definitely be classified in that bracket. Both mares put it all out there. We pinged the last and going away from it I thought for a second, we’re going to win this, but Honeysuckle being Honeysuckle just reeled us in. It was a fantastic run though. We look back on it with immense pride. Love Envoi acquitted herself to a very high standard. All being well, we plan on taking her over to Punchestown at the end of the season for their Mares’ Grade 1 Hurdle and hopefully beat the Irish on their own turf. It’s a wonderful Festival and has been a lucky fixture for us in the past. I think we’ve had seven winners there, which is more than we’ve had at the Cheltenham Festival and Aintree. As for next season, our thinking right now would be to go back for the Mares’ Hurdle and try and go one place better in 12 months’ time.

                      • 10/1 is a cracking price I think in a market devoid of much value

                        • Agreed GS, front 2 well clear and Honey now retired, think Love Envoi will improve again
I've had a few bob on Love Envoi already at 10's and popped her in a handful of doubles for some nice boosts

I wouldn't be taking this years Mares Hurdle TOO literally..

The first 3 were in the first 4 throughout the whole race and off a very sedate pace, these were allowed to kick clear off the home bend and caught all the jockeys held up napping.

This is my key takeaway from the race.

Doesn't mean LE won't win next year, but it's hard to believe the circumstances will be as favourable to her. If they are, 10/1 will look an unbelievable price though

                              • Agree with how the race was run suiting Love Envoi. There's also good mares coming through from both the mares novice and Triumph this year... Which would concern me regarding LE.
