I would think a repeat bid is just about certain. 4 lengths clear of Queens Brook who is a good enough marker for the grade/mares races. Like someone else said, no Honeysuckle next year. Yes there will be some come from the novices but IMO they rarely go on so the fact she is now basically proven at the level for similar odds to the likes of You Wear It Well and is double that of Lossiemouth means she has to be the best value for the race at this stage.
I like Love Envoi, she's been very consistent this season and will be a force if the ground goes soft next year, but is she better value than 25/1 Gala Marceau for the same race ?
I had a small bet Gala Marceau yesterday but afterwards I did wonder whether she could be aimed at the Stayers hurdle, but I can't remember a 5yo going that route let alone being competitive...

For me it's just the juveniles going on angle.... yes, Apple's Jade went on to win the Mares after being runner up in the Triumph but on the whole most struggle in the following year. So much doubt over how they will train on in addition to the target.
Didn't Love Envoi massively get the run of the race? I mean there's certainly worse bets out there, for the reasons outlined. She's solid and you can be almost certain of the target. But there's also a couple of good mares coming up from the triumph, and potentially also form the Mares Novice.
Stay Away Fay I mentioned elsewhere on the forum but I see is getting a decent amount of love in here. Thought he looked a big chasing type in the AB. And the target you'd think would be obvious for a horse that's already one a Grade 1 at the festival, and a trainer that seems to be getting back into Cheltenham! 16s seems very fair like.
The English challenge looks like being poor again as well. Henderson didn't even have anything in the novice hurdles that you'd see as going chasing and have Cheltenham in mind. Obviously he has a star in Constitution Hill but outside of that he's got quite a poor bunch. So a few of these Nicholls horses could be turning up with a strong of 1s to their name again next March, but in some cases with a bit of past festival form as well. Not against a Nicholls Yankee

I don't think there's a 'train on' issue, Gala Marceau will be a third season filly for next season (she has 9 runs to her name).
The target issue I accept is always a concern but I can't think where she might reasonably go, little point in being a 5yo novice chaser unless they feel she is as good as the older boys and the allowance gives her an advantage, is she stays hurdling she won't be going down the champion hurdle route, she got done for turn of foot by Lossiemouth but was coming back to the winner at the line, 20f looks exactly what she needs.
I can't see her handicapping, it just has to be Mares hurdle doesn't it ?
Someone convince me otherwise please....

I suppose it will be interesting to see if she takes in the Mares race at Punchestown - she's similar in profile to Burning Victory who was also fairly experienced when she won the Triumph then stepped up in trip (disappointingly). Only time will tell i suppose...

….Gala Marceau 33-1 Mares Hurdle with PP is a bit of a stand-out given she’s as low as 16-1 with Sky. PP are 3-1 Lossiemouth, so a big price difference between the two.

Got excited I could have a swing at this one and it's already gone. Gonna be tough this year. Very, very tough
It’s incredible how little money it takes to move markets. I’d not spotted that PP had Zenta at 33/1 having had a speculative point or two with 365, checked Saxon’s diary in the afternoon 4 hours after he’d posted, and they’d cut it to 20/1.
20/1! Without running?! 13 points slashed in a few hours because maybe 30 people got some money on. It’s astonishing how fast you have to be now…

In what looks another incredibly tough renewal again. Love Envoi and Lossiemouth will be really tough to get past especially the former who's run against Honey puts her well clear .
I think the way the Mares Hurdle panned out, it always suited the ones that were prominent in the race, with the first 3 home all up there throughout. It's been said many times before but to come from off the pace in a slowly run race, you're at a huge disadvantage and personally I'll be taking the result of that race with a pinch of salt going forward

Yeah the form of that mares hurdle can be put in the bin as far as I'm concerned
