Very much like the Coca Cola lorry and Xmas, the naming of the Naiad now means the magic of Cheltenham is just around the corner

My wife asked me what I was watching, I told her it was a chap putting up a horse for Cheltenham, 20 mins later she said 'hasn't he done it yet?'. I explained that you're the Jeffrey Archer of horse tipping, the master of suspense, and the groundwork and backcloth are as important to the Naiad as the actual naming of the horse itself. We even got the much missed clickety clack of Kevloaf's keyboard thrown in as a bonus..

I wondered where that was going; the Jeffrey Archer of tipping … I’m glad you went with his literary work.

Good luck with the selection Spectre
clearly has the potential to improve stepped up in distance.
I'd also like to apologise for my previous rudeness towards you, i'm sorry

Luckily I was playing pool with another horse racing fan... managed to delay our game a little to hear the unveiling even used his phone to listen to the video so I was ready to put the bets on... funny that 365 have had the night off too.

Listened to the case when I got back, love it Spectre, top work.

I think he's pretty versatile with regards ground, and the extra distance also helps. I doubt it'll be any faster than good to soft by the third race of the Festival this year anyway, because the new clerk of the course won't make the same mistake again. That was the fastest ground we've had for a number of years. I suspect we'll be racing on the soft side of good to soft for the Ultima if there's no rain around.
Until we see him at 3M obvs a bit of guesswork, I don’t doubt he has plenty of stamina which is evident by how he’s finished off plenty of races & some of the efforts he’s produced on soft.

Corach last year was freakish, poorly positioned having to make up that much ground won’t be seen in a rush again it’s more the “tactical pace” that might leave him poorly positioned come the business end. Corach would probably have won by a fair distance on softer ground due to being much better positioned than he was. Thoughts are echoed with Nass in that the softer the going the better he’ll hold his position & in turn have a better chance IMO.

For clarity this isn’t me trying to “Poo Poo” you it’s just offering balanced chat as anyone would putting up a selection.

I see the Naiad has settled into a general 8/1 with some 10/1 around (12/1 365 if you're lucky enough to have an account).
Cost of living crisis hitting FJ ? Last year Galahad Quest was smashed into 6/1 within an hour....

I would say it's more to do with his price.

Now, I've backed him through FOMO, more than anything else, and if it wasn't Spectre putting him up he probably wouldn't be in my top 6 to back for the race, not least because I was told he'd be going for the Plate (clearly Paul has better contacts than me ).

Forget about trends and stats for a second, even just looking at him blind, not knowing about them, a horse that is 12/1 without a run, let alone a win over 3m, is a real negative for me personally, no matter how the horse has shaped previously.

There's probably only one trainer I'd trust in backing to get a horse to win over a trip they've never tried at the festival, and that's Willie Mullins, and the race would have to be a handicap hurdle, and nothing else.

I much preferred the cases of Happygolucky & Galahad Quest, and if it wasn't for being the Naiad, I could guarantee I wouldn't have even backed Nassalam for the Ultima.

Given your obvious mancrush for all things Gary Moore that surprises me.

                        Goshen to win the Arkle…

                          Haha, you know!

Unfortunately we'll all have opinions, and in turn, money down, but it's mostly down to the fact he's never run at 3m, although as Paul pointed out, there is plenty of stamina in the breeding. Like I said, I've gone in through FOMO, more than anything else.

                          • Sadly Nandos wifi was very erratic so it had gone to 12s by the time I could get on, so I only had a small dabble to feel part of the fun

                            • B365 now 8/1 although it was 12s until around just before 9am. Yes, does look they've just come into work!! Spectre was quite correct. Now into favouritism.

I bet at 7.30 most of us were crapping ourselves because the site wouldn't load. And then over the next 15 minutes - 'name the bloody horse, Paul'!!

Thanks again. Never mind the money, it's the entertainment value!!
