    Not for me
Nor me, really do not like his jumping for a 3m nov chase .
    Needs more experience imo.

      Ha

I don't see how it's a struggle to see it, I think he's a really solid fav.... and if Sir Gerhard is his biggest threat then I'll take my chances.

Obviously my nap could have been Constitution Hill, but I think 5/2 is the biggest priced fav of the shorties that I fancy.

One for us to get stuck in to on Friday
I can't believe you're banging on about Gerri Colombe being the nap Kev.

      Have you forgotten already?

The horse you plucked from obscurity at 130-1 - it really is no contest.

Funambule Sivola is your nap Kev. No ifs, no buts, no maybes - the Fun machine is going to bolt up in the Champion Chase.

And HE is the nap. You got it.

Now kindly delete all this bollox about Gerri.

Yeah I know mate, NRNB is important is we're talking about whether Sir Gerhard is a bet or not of course, but for Gerri Colombe all that matters is whether you actually think he goes there. I could make a similar argument that Galopin Des Champs isn't a banker for the Gold Cup because Shishkin might go there, can talk about NRNB all you like but what's actually important is whether you think Shishkin would go there in the first place. The biggest surprise for me is that Appreciate It wasn't entered in the BANC, if any of Willie's should be stepping up to 3, I'd say he's the one. Definitely strange for Willie not to have block entered him.

He's 9/2 NRNB now anyway, in terms of a bet on him I don't think he will be that much shorter on the day so it's a wait and see job for me anyway.

Not for me. Place claims only at best.

If GDMesnil has won, then I'll be cheering him on

I really like Gerri Colombe, but a squeak is fair

                  Not good enough for me

A proper BANC horse would've beaten the field he ran in last time cosily

Does that not tell us that GDM hacks up in the NH Chase then ?
And although it's obvious they're looking to keep the two apart I can't imagine Mullins sending any of his to a race where they can't be competitive, unless prep for a pre-determined plan.
I don't love Ramillies but I am starting to warm to him, and surely we have to respect any chaser Mullins sends to a G1.
I think it's becoming clear James de Berlais isn't their BANC horse...

Does Big Ram wanting 4m tell us anything about GDM??
Willies stable tour comments the other day was the first real indication that both go NHC - it makes sense IMO. Better firing two bullets and winning one than none at all.
It's interesting because GDM brings a glimmer of class and is on the cusp of being a proper Grade 1 animal, so yes, he should hack up in what looks a weak field.
But, the NHC doesn't always play out that way. There is a long running misconception IMO (perhaps fuelled by recency bias) that class wins the NHC.
More often than not its the relentless jumpers and gallopers. Big Ram is not a classy Grade 1 animal but I'd far rather have him in a fight than GDM.
GDM should have won the Irish National having travelled the way he did but his jumping went to shit and he didn't finish out the race strongly.
GDM is a good jumper but he makes mistakes and can make an awkward shape. Big Ram jumps beautifully.
I just cant envisage a scenario where big Ram is stopping after 3m5f whereas I can see GDM making a tired mistake or hitting one, which he'd done quite a few times.
Big Ram doesn't make those mistakes over fences and for that reason I think he's bang there.

On the assumption they keep GDM and Ramillies apart I think it does.
And for what it's worth I think they will keep them apart...

I can’t see GDM or ramilles winning the BANC. Simply not classy or quick enough
GDM has a good chance in NHC, ramilles a second string, but won’t win either IMO

The more I look at this race the more I'm warming to Thyme Hill,he's had 17 career starts with 14 of those at Grade 1 or 2 level, unplaced only 3 times (once in France,in the spud race when he was short of room late on & at Aintree when he never looked likely to get involved from halfway after a career best run in the stayers hurdle), he's ran at 3 festivals now so has stacks of course experience, hasn't looked the most natural chaser in his first 2 starts but it all seemed to come together in the Kauto Star at kempton, if he can build on that run surely he goes close here,he'd be the horse with the most G1 runs and wins on his CV, of course there's a few things against him if you're a stats kind of punter but for me this doesn't look a vintage renewal at this stage (IE I see no horse here I'm thinking could be a Gold Cup horse next season) and he's long overdue a festival win,it's been 20 years since Hobbs won this with One Knight so it'd be nice to see him win another.
