MP Ryanair one kind of.. looks alright
Has been alot of talk about lack of value in antepost betting but surely playing the ‘24 markets so far out feeds into the hands of the the very issue..
I know the volume is probably low and it’s every man for himself but just a passing thought

I doubt many play this market but I opened the thread because I think it is one to consider given how difficult ante-post is becoming. There will be an increasing number of ‘win at this and next years Festival’ offers to consider as another angle in the next month or so, Folk just need to be very selective in that market.Last edited by Eggs; 19 January 2023, 09:24 AM.

One thing I have noted, and is proving very frustrating as we tick through January, is the ‘non event’ of horses being put up for the 2024 festival on the ‘National Hunt’ SKY requestabets. It’s a source of huge frustration.
By early December 2021, all of Galopin Des Champs (Gold Cup @ 33/1), Jonbon (both Arkle AND Champion Hurdle @ 16/1) and Constitution Hill both Champ Hurdle & Arkle @ 10/1) were available for selection. SKYBet also have a tendency to only put up very early the ‘big guns’ that look very capable, showing huge promise, of winning multiple career grade 1’s. If you can place your faith, and invest for 16+ months, and study probable career trajectories, it’s a great market to invest in. But that’s exactly it - I don’t see them as ‘betting opportunities’ (although they are) - you have to look at them as proper long term investments.
Shishkin was available 18 months out from Sept 2nd 2020 to win the 2022 Champion Chase @ 33/1. Ultimately it was a 4/6 loss on the day,
I’m sure the people here might remember the 225/1 Shishkin/Envoi Allen double being offered 3 years ago ready for 2022. Again, a loss, but it did shorten to 16/1 before Envoi Allen went horribly wrong the moment he left Gordon’s yard.
This year on SKYBet?? Nothing for 2024. Not a sausage. It’s of huge frustration for someone who enjoys these investments.
I think the 4/5 on the Mullins/Townend ‘top trainer/top jockey’ was a bit of a steal a few weeks back on Paddy P.

Yep Q, I have.
Visits to SKYBet, PP @ William Hill are of an hourly frequency for me.
The one I want (I don’t have Twitter) is for someone to request Irish horses to finish 1st,2nd & 3rd in 3 or more races at the festival. They opened it up at 6/4 late January last year - odds against was a steal. Within an hour they’d shortened to 10/11 before it settled on 4/9, where it remained up until the festival. I remember being in the Guinness village on the Tues morning when the entries came out for the Marsh Chase, all 4 horses were Irish. You just had to get 3 around to win (how ironic Galopin D C wasn’t one of them!) that race. I put on some serious dough when I saw those entries.
If that same ‘event’ to happen came up and it was offered as an opener at around 10/11, I’d have to think about investing hugely again. The 6/4 won’t be happening anytime soon.

Sky have been ruthless in closing/restricting accounts since they were taken over by Betfair, I have infrequent access to two accounts, both are losing accounts but these specials wouldn't allow more than about fifty quid on both.

Yes Benjy, that was the other bet I couldn’t believed opened up at 4/6 - the Hendo/Willie supreme winner one. That shortened to 1/5 within 48 hours. I sat there with that one putting more and more within a 30 minute period on until I was blocked. You're getting Con’ Hill, Jonbon, Dysart Dynamo, Kilcruit & Bring on the Night to win at 4/6 - any of them. It was a true trader error, getting the top 4 in the market for 4/6. In 2 months time, you be getting just the one Mullins hotpot for 4/6.
To answer Instabraq, and related somewhat, those 2 bets contributed to my account being hugely restricted. Thankfully, I’m sitting on those Galopin, Jonbon & Constitution Hill bets as they were placed a couple of months before, ready for 2 months time. Any of those winning would be lovely. 2 would be nirvana.
But as you’ve mentioned, I’m truly restricted now.
The answer? 3 friends to open accounts (SKYBet - simply the very best for markets - uncontested) under their name, monies transferred when I need to place a bet, 10% of any/all winnings to each of them post festival as a Thankyou.
But it’s now, before the DRF, I’m prowling those trader howlers desperately..

Thankyou for that Mr Japan, appreciated.
I have a price in my head I’m willing to back it at again, but I know SKY won’t be offering odds this side of evens. 10/11 would be fantastic I’d suggest - 4/5 as an opener very fair.
