  • December ‘22 Yankee

There has been a suggestion from Dandrew99 & Brooksie that there is some value out there & we should consider an each-way Yankee with strongly fancied long-shots.

MoM will hopefully be back to facilitate but post your thoughts in here.

Wouldn’t call these long shots, but think it’s fairly easy to make arguments for all of them at double figure prices

    Mrs Milner - Mares Hurdle
    James De Berlais - Turners
    Fakir D’oudairies - Ryanair
    Good Bye Sam - Foxhunters

      .
Rare commodity fancied and long odds Ideally want one in place before many make their debut in Dec to the catch some long shots.
Fancy this WPM Yankee @ 315,587/1

      James Du Berlais - Turners
Well covered on the forum 20s turners, 25s BANC.

      Flame Bearer/Dysart D. - Arkle
Apart from El Fabiolo fancy FB or Dysart D at 16s.

      Quais De Paris - Ballymore
*looking at BFX markets, FV is just smashed in for supreme. One of WPM other well regarded novice hurdlers QDP. 25s for Ballymore 33s supreme

      Spanish Harlem - AB
*Decent debut should come on for it, see him in the frame of the top staying novices when season progresses. 33s for AB.

….I don’t think we should be definitive about ‘longshots’, & maybe consider what we think is a bit of value.

Some races look settled, Supreme & CH. A bit of certainty regarding target, ultimately we’re after ones with a chance of winning at a decent price.

Spanish Harlem certainly one to watch, especially debuting in the same race as GDC but perhaps he could end up in the handicap.

          Galliard du Mesnil BANC
Super run yesterday over inadequate trip. Willie says he's going the Grade 1 route. Hugely experienced. Rating equal to or above 6 of last 12 winners of the race.

          Ahorsewithnoname MNH

2nd in it last year and the form soundly franked by Love Envoi at the weekend. Improved massively on the flat this year so we can expect further improvement over hurdles. Hugely experienced, defined target, one prep next year then straight to Cheltenham.

I'll get her in one if it kills me

Majority of my problems are all sorted thankfully. Sometimes when there’s a lot happening in the real world, it’s best taking a step back. Big thanks to Eggs for his help with the recent yankees, That Horse for the selections and Istabraq for adding the yankees to the main thread - and of course to everyone who contributed to those. It’s good to see they’re in safe hands if I go AWOL.

Onto December then.. I’d suggest we purely go on what we’ve seen so far this season early doors. And whether that be an each way or a win ya jee can be determined at a later date when we have some nominated horses and know what prices they are.

The BANC would look like a good race to target.

…..can’t be many times in recent years it’s been 12-1 the field in December for that race.

Is Samcro for the Cross Country worth a punt ?
Had an entry for Cheltenham’s XC race so it’s clearly in their thinking and this race has a history of an established ante post shortie getting chinned by a curve ball newcomer.
                      20/1…

Galia Des Liteaux Mares Chase - strong debut RPR and seems value off the back of that Bravemansgame Ryanair - race should cut up and he looks good value at 9's with 365 behind Allaho
Gin On Lime XC - aimed at this race and GN so should give a good account
Chemical Energy National Hunt - sounds like aimed at this race from reading through the forum and again looks good value

Not the deepest of rationales as I'm inexperienced but these stand out to me as looking like value for an ew yankee

Gesskille is one I'd really like to see over the XC course. A nice prep for the GN.

He got put up to 141 for his becher run (cost me twice in a week skelton)
I've backed for the x country but bit worried they may want more weight, however, they have a few weeks to get another 4 or 5 lbs if they can find the right race.
If they can get a win into him next time and a rise then we might be in business from a runner point of view at least.
Then maybe let him prep like you said.

Chemical Energy is a good shout especially with him going straight to the race and Willie saying the fav now going down the Group 1 road.
