  • 156 RPR for ADV’s win at Limerick. With the Mares allowance that’s equivalent to 163. On debut. That’s obscene.

Edit: For context and with reference to Sax’s excellent work on trends, that would be the best debut by any BANC winner.

Those NRNB prices with Hills are looking hella interesting now.

That’s a very high RPR, but I can’t see ADV listed in Hills’ NRNB market, unless I’m being blind?

        No, someone needs to request.
I took the 7-1 Turners yesterday though.
        Think they'd go similar price.

          Just requested.

I meant the Mares Chase tho. Will surely go off 1/2 if lining up.

No interest in shooting the messenger so sorry Exar, but that 156 has both Malina Girl beaten 19l and Carrigeen Lotus beaten 13l essentially running personal bests, which is just ridiculous from whoever came up with it. I've liked RPRs for a long time and value them a lot, but I'm struggling with a lot of the numbers given so far this year.

That said, she was excellent and as Q mentioned earlier and I took note of at the time of stable tours, it was strange that Willie or Joe Chambers mentioned her potentially taking on the boys if it wasn't actually being considered...

Yup. Requested for the BANC as that’s a good angle too.

The ones given for the grade 2 novices hurdle in Limerick over Christmas are baffling. As you say some look really inflated this season

                  • Wonder if they changed one of the people that does them

                    156 is way too high

elimay got 146 for winning the mares chase

She's either the biggest certainty of the week or that rpr is 10lbs too high

I said this a few weeks back about the bumper RPRs, something has to have changed with them

Does anyone know who the Racing Post Handicapper is currently who does these ratings? I’m sure I heard not long ago Graeme Rodway was involved in some form which makes me just want to take the ratings currently being give with a pinch of salt

                        • It’s one thing to distrust ratings when making season over season comparisons but a completely different thing to distrust them within the same season.

If there has been a methodology change as long as the same methodology is accurately applied to every horse then the stack rank will still have integrity even if the season on season comparisons don’t.

Making season on season comparisons following a methodology change(if there has been one) should be avoided and is essentially comparing apples with oranges e.g comparing Elimay with ADV. This does not mean ADV shouldn’t be compared with say GDM this season.

Also bear in mind that we are only just coming out of a global pandemic....it is almost impossible to expect that this did not have an impact on trainer and horse performance for a period of time so perhaps the methodology has not changed but the external circumstances/environment have become much more conducive to performance maximisation.

Yep. Makes the 6/4 NRNB the best price of all the current favourites imo.

                            • My worry was always she’d be aimed at the boys. WPM said as much in interviews. Yes she’s beat nothing on debut, but in the jumping department who’s been better over there fences than her? Yes got in tight to the last 2 but up to that point she was flawless.

I hope for most of our slips it’s mares chase but she was really good that the doubt will be there.
