3lbs extra for winning a Grade 2 which her win was last weekend. 5lbs extra if a Grade 1 winner

I don't think that has stopped previous winners of the race ??

Correct. Colreevy carried a 5lb penalty when winning in 2021 and Elimay a 3lb penalty in 21 but none in 22.

Not much to go on if there's only been two runnings of it though. Colreevy had a pen, Elimay didn't last year and the extra 3lb most likely cost Scarlet and Dove

Elimay didn't carry any penalty in last season's race. Scarlet and Dove plus Concertista did

Colreevy carried a group 1 penalty and won a strong looking race putting up a 161 rpr. She will likely prove to be one of the better winners of this race once the stats start to build over time.

Elimay won a tight finish getting 3lb off scarlet and dove who was beat just over 1/2 length in what was surely a poor race with an RPR of 146.

A lot of these mares aren't that good, so if theres a high class one with a group 1 or group 2 penalty its unlikely to stop them from figuring in the finish. Unless they are "creatively" campaigned any top mare will end up carrying at least a 3lb penalty I'd imagine.

              • FinalFurlong91 Elimay was "creatively" campaigned. 3 runs last season prior to Cheltenham, no grade 1 or 2 race runs. If she had picked up a penalty last year she wouldn't have won.

Was she creatively campaigned? She ran well below her previous years level in every run and was considered the stable second string because of that.

Had she suddenly got back to her best when winning id agree.

Had her season gone to plan she'd have contested grade 2 races for sure.

Brilliant from Mullins if that was the plan. The man is brilliant. I'm hoping for the same from Instit.

                    • Someone must like Impervious' chances as she's been backed into 4/1 joint fav with a few firms today, maybe it's her RPR coming out. Some still go 5/1 but that's as much as we're getting.

If she disappoints or has a setback she won't run, but if she does run she's going to be very short imo. I'm happy to keep backing her at current odds, although can understand why others think her price is awful.

Here's one. Brandy Love and ADV are similar prices for their respective races, and neither have run this season. Which of the two would people prefer to side with at this point?

I think the majority would go ADV.
                        Blimey!

I have no strong opinion on the race whatsoever but I think I need to get her in a few multiples as that’s made me sit up and take notice! Odds on if she runs!
