Agreed. Nice enough debut and a chance to top up at a decent price. Think if she'd pinged the last she'd have gone very close. Thought she jumped pretty well overall.

Nobody concerned with how slow she seemed to jump?

Was being out jumped at most fences when the faller was upsides her.

As a backer of her I wouldn't be overly excited by that performance either.

Also, she's been beat by Glengouly. Not as if she's come 2nd to something that would be a contender come Cheltenham.

Aye, agree with that too, she’s been beaten by a fairly poor hurdler, receiving 7lbs.

She improve for fitness obviously but should be beating that field today imo. WPM’s mares probably lap Glengouly

Walloped one under pressure too. Sure she'll come on for it but so will Elimay from her race, I know which i'd rather back at this stage (neither , but if I had to...)

Yeah I thought her jumping was excellent when on a stride but really poor when not. Maybe educational, but she put down on Rachel on the second going out the back for the second time and her jump at the last also wasn't pretty.

I'm still interested in getting her onside at 14/1 but it wasn't anything like what I was hoping for from a jumping perspective

                  Not brilliant not terrible

Looked like she needs a left handed track to me

But dissapointed she couldn't beat glengouly

hopefully she improves a lot for the run as that wasnt great

Didn't look as though she enjoyed the fences that much. Looked big again so will come on for the run though. Mares chase .....nah. Get her back over hurdles I say !

It was a beginners chase and on the whole she jumped relatively well.

There's a fairly obvious causation between not looking fit on debut and underwhelming on debut is there? Most runners will tell you its infinitely more enjoyable when you're not wondering where your next breath is going to come from.

I think it's important that we distinguish from genuinely poor debut efforts versus those that have room for significant improvement. Based on her size, history on debut, breeding, ability to jump well (on the whole), no reason to think TMSG isn't in the latter camp. Our focus is all about March and I think its easy to lose sight on debut runs that the vast majority improve throughout the season.

Was she electric, no. Was she poor, no. She went about her business and its on to the next chase. Hurdle chat is presumably tongue in cheek.

The flip side is that the Mares Chase is an open grade 2.

So to be a challenger come March you probably have to be a pretty decent novice.
Colreevy winning the first edition may have lulled people into thinking novices have a great chance, but maybe she was exceptional and a lot better for a fence (her form says as much)

Not winning your beginner/maiden first time up isn't ideal.
Even with the specific points surrounding TMSG.

Concertista was another stuffy fat bitch and a better hurdler than TMSG, and she couldn't manage to beat some average more experienced mares in last seasons renewal.

TMSG's current price for this race is shit. But not as shit as Allegorie De Vassy's current price. IMO.

I do think TMSG will end up running in the Mares Hurdle. Not tongue in cheek. I believe she'd have a better chance winning that than the Mares Chase. No reason why she can't mix it between codes either.

If I was Henry I’d stick to the chasing plan, as the Mares Hurdle is gonna be X Rated next March

Wouldn't back her for the Mares Hurdle with my own or anyone elses money, Love Envoi, Brandy Love and Epatante all beat her comfortably imo

Yep quite possibly. All have Q marks as well. Love Envoi may be ground dependant, Epatante could pick up CH place money and may not stay 2 1/2 at Cheltenham anyway and Brandy Love could end up in the Best Mate Stand. Apart from that I'd agree with you
