Beginning to wonder how much longer Bective Stud will keep bankrolling Gordon

Getting very little bang for their considerable buck so far

….Zambella into a best price 16-1 after her win today. Came 4th last year & was in the mix jumping the last.

If you look at the amount spent on the horses in his yard, the success he has had in non novice events is pretty shocking compared to Willie and Henry over the last few years.

Real shame what happened to ginto

Could've been their flagship horse this season

They will be patient im sure, rome wasnt built in a day and all that

They will need to get used to owning 2nd placed grade 1 horses though, as Willie just seems to get more and more ammunition each year.

I'd say Bective Stud are really regretting not pulling a few horses the time of the Elliott controversy. Ideal opportunity. Even if they pulled 2 or 3 horses that time they would be able to compare results

They're the main sponsors of his yard now so i doubt theyre pulling the plug anytime soon

….I note a few have Gin on Lime in their books for this for which she’s a best price 12-1. Worth noting she’s 17-1 (with boost) in Hills any race list, which gives a little cover for XC which has also been mentioned.

In his stable tour, HdB states she hates winter ground & is being put away until next spring.

Rob Acheson recently said she's being aimed at the Cross Country Chase and then the Grand National rather than the Mares Chase.

Hopefully we will see TMSG who is entered on Thursday.

There was picture posted on Twitter (@Pmolony1Peter) on the 30/07/2021 of Honeysuckle eating alongside TMSG.

The size of TMSG really stuck with me, she's a huge mare by Stowaway who could very well take a big step forward over fences.

Can't wait to see her in what looks a relatively uninspiring division.

I was at Down Royal on the Friday AM won his maiden...and both were in the owners and trainers......they looked the opposite of fed up with how things are going. Noel was at the screen watching all the Elliot winners like they were all his. While i'd agree they aren't getting a great return currently, i'd say it's a long term vision.

Doubt it. Noel and Valerie Moran will know that finding stars is all about patience, luck and talent. Few trainers worldwide come more talented than Gordon and they are still relatively new to the game as owners. I suspect they'll be scrutinising the strategy of who buys what but then they're minted so maybe they dont care.

How do you make a small fortune in racing?

Agree, it seems like a passion for them not work. I'm sure they don't want to end up in the poor house over horseracing (and I doubt they will) but like you said, patience is required. Just because you're throwing a load of money at it doesn't guarantee instant success. Robcor haven't hit the heights of Bob Olinger again as of yet, which shows it's clearly a hard game, and from a training perspective, it took a long time for Willie to get to where he is now.

                              Good point this.
Elliott himself had instant success with a Grand National win in his first/second year of training but it took him some time afterwards to become a major force in racing.
It's not like the Morans are throwing the kind of money at it as Giggs and JP have over the years, they look to be a little more selective and I agree with charlie
in that they'll review purchasing strategies before training...
