I see Famous Clermont now not going for it. Bunch of helmets these foxhunters trainers. Knew Biddick couldn't be trusted after Porlock Bay last year!
That's disappointing. Can't but feel they're spooked by the Irish challenge. If anything, over the extreme distance and amateur jockeys, anything has the potential to happen. Mind you, when we hear from trainers about going for the easier option, I guess that can also mean Aintree over Cheltenham.
I suspect they got carried away in the heat of the moment, followed by a dose of reality today. The attached, including quotes seems more in line with their stance in early Feb. Aintree fences and shorter trip are the main reasons given.

"It's still a stiff test round there (Cheltenham), it's three miles two and if the ground comes up soft, it's a slog. He's a very strong-travelling horse and two miles five round Aintree would suit him a lot better." Chris Barber.
Alternatively with so little rain forecast, he could be entered at Cheltenham and left in until nearer final decs to see if the weather changes.
Pocket talk from me? Almost certainly. But it seems unlikely, at this stage at least, that the race would turn into a slog so striking while the iron is hot would surely have much to commend it. It will be interesting to see what mark he's given next week but if he confirmed for Cheltenham and decent ground came up, he would surely be close to favourite by the day.
Winged Leader is declared for a P2P race this Saturday. I know communication from trainer up to now has been a preference to go to Aintree, this pretty much confirms that choice IMO

Not sure re that theory. It's more that Vaucelet prefers decent ground hence Cheltenham is first choice. Winged Leader appreciates it softer so preference is Aintree.
Decided to take the 10s on Secret Investor here. At least we know he's being aimed at the race, and obviously has the back form to show he's classy enough. Of the four currently shorter than him in the market it sounds like three are unlikely runners. Therefore he'll probably end up a bit shorter than 10s almost by default.
